I Meet the Team - Katie Machray I

We are delighted to introduce our new Part 1
Architectural Assistant, Katie, who will be assisting the team across all aspects of the design process. We asked Katie a few questions to get to know her... we hope you're just as impressed with her beautiful artistry as we are!

What Do You Enjoy Most? "Transitioning between site visits and studio design. I love working with the team to draw up sketches and diagrams that bring conceptual ideas to life and tell a project's story to our clients."

What are you passionate about? "I really enjoy the outdoors and wildlife, and I love spending time capturing nature and my experiences through sketching, painting and photography."

Where is your dream travel destination? "Iceland, New Zealand, Norway, the Galápagos Islands... it is too hard to pick one!"

Most projects start with a measured survey, and we were fortunate to be commissioned to carry out a survey and feasibility for the extension of a traditional farmhouse and redundant steading near Gartly.

As a bonus, it was a beautiful sunny day in rural Aberdeenshire. With views like this, we look forward to exploring design options for our clients to fully maximise their outlook and setting.

| Cairngorm Cottage Extension Approval |

Planning Permission recently approved for a contemporary extension and link to an existing stone cottage in the heart of the Cairngorms, near Tomnavoulin.

The proposals see a connecting link comprising of a stone plinth base course, glazing and green roof, leading to larch clad form which will house a vaulted Kitchen, Dining & Living split level space.

Grateful to our clients for sharing this stunning view... look forward to seeing this dream become reality.

| AT Awards Finalist |

We are thrilled to announce that our Seahaven project has been selected as a Finalist for 'Small Project of the Year' at the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) AT Awards 2026.

Congratulations are in order for Ross and the team on this recognition of their exceptional design and craftsmanship. Ross will be attending the awards in London in October to celebrate - we wish him the best of luck!

Good architecture doesn’t just create spaces - it creates connections to the world beyond them.

Framing a view can transform an everyday opening into a carefully composed moment, drawing the eye towards the landscape and bringing natural light, greenery and a sense of place into the heart of a home.

This view from our farmhouse renovation project near Insch is a great example of how thoughtful positioning can make the landscape an integral part of the architecture.
