This is something I feel really strongly about.

Ar**la tattooing isn't just another tattoo service you can add to your price list after a weekend course. The responsibility is huge, and our clients deserve artists who have taken the time to build solid foundations before working on compromised skin.

I'd love to know your thoughts on this one ;)

I’ve got something important to share.. ive shared it before and i will keep on sharing it because this is the reality of so so many people out there!

Trigger warning - overworked ar**la tattoos, excessive scarring, faded tattoos.

These are results from well meaning practitioners that are put on a 1 or a 2 day tattoo course, with no prior tattoo experience, then are allowed to tattoo fragile scar tissue, this is the requirement to tattoo in some NHS trusts.

These photos are the reason I became a medical tattooer, i find it hard to share them, i dont want to come across in any type of negative way but this is unfortuneatly the reality of this work when completed by inexperienced practitioners.

These are the reasons why i fight so hard for change, for this service to be respected as the craft it is, for the people in need of the tattoos to be put first, for their safety & self esteem to be at the forefront when considering this treatment.

No one should have to go through being left with something that contributes to their unhappiness and inability to move forward after literally battling cancer.

In my opinion this service is very much an advanced service not suitable for beginners, more suited to experienced machine artists with years of experience a variety if skin types and artistic skills! These pictures are some of my reasons why i believe that to be the case.

I love debunking some myths, don’t you?

I’m not one to sugar coat, but I’ve been in the medical industry long enough (and have become a well-known expert) in understanding the complexities that come with becoming a medical tattooer.

Some things just need to be aired and honestly it’s why I’m here.

It’s lovely to give back and gift these tattoos for free if you are offering one a month, absolutely! But what happens when the demand grows, a surgeon sees your work, is sending you ten clients a week taking up 2-3 days - is that really attainable?

I give people options from free, discounted or paid clinics - people who are in a position to are MORE than happy to pay trust me - it’s a worthwhile & valuable service!

Just like breast cancer surgeons who get paid for their time, their skill, their craft, time and financial investment into learning this skill - why should medical tattooing be any different? I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙏🏼
