🧠Ancient Wisdom. Modern Science. Better Dental Care.
Many people are surprised to learn that hypnosis is not a modern invention.
Techniques resembling hypnotic states have been described in ancient Egypt, Greece and many traditional healing systems around the world. For centuries, people have used focused attention, guided imagination and altered states of awareness to reduce distress, manage pain and promote healing.
What is different today is that we can study these processes scientifically.
Modern neuroscience has shown that attention, expectation, imagination and suggestion can influence how the brain processes pain, anxiety and sensory experiences. Research using brain imaging has demonstrated measurable changes in brain activity during hypnosis and hypnotic interventions.
At MDA, we combine these two worlds.
Not mystery.
Not magic.
Not stage hypnosis.
We use evidence informed hypnosis and focused state techniques alongside modern dental care to help patients:
âś“ Feel calmer during treatment
âś“ Reduce dental anxiety
âś“ Manage gag reflexes
âś“ Improve comfort during longer procedures
âś“ Build confidence for future visits
The principles may be ancient.
The understanding is modern.
The goal is simple:
Helping people feel safe, comfortable and in control while receiving the dental care they need.
Because the best healthcare often combines timeless human understanding with the latest scientific knowledge.

Today was one of those days that reminds me why MDA exists.
Our patient returned for his second MDA session today.
During his first visit, his dental anxiety was so intense that he was afraid to even sit in the dental chair. After some initial work together, he managed to enter the surgery, but he was shaking so much that he had to hold his own hands to stop the trembling.
We then guided him through the MDA process.
Gradually, the fear settled. His breathing slowed. His body relaxed. Most importantly, he was able to work with us and successfully complete the treatment that had previously felt impossible.
Today, he returned for another appointment.
Watching him sit in the dental chair with a sense of relief and confidence was genuinely rewarding. The contrast between the first and second visit was remarkable. What once felt overwhelming had become manageable.
Moments like these remind us that dental fear does not have to control a person’s life or prevent them from receiving the care they need.
Thank you for your trust and courage.
If fear of the dentist has been holding you back, MDA may help you take that first step.
Because nobody should have to choose between their oral health and their anxiety.

🇬🇧 How is this possible without medication?
Many people believe that the only way to stay calm at the dentist is through medication or sedation.
But the truth is: your body can enter deep relaxation completely naturally — when guided correctly.
When a patient slows their breathing, relaxes their muscles and focuses their attention, the nervous system switches from “fight-or-flight” into a state of calm safety.
In this state, fear, tension and even the gag reflex can reduce drastically — without any drugs at all.
This is what Mental Dental Anesthesia does:
it helps your body regain control, calm the automatic stress response, and make the entire appointment smoother and more comfortable.
Naturally.
Without medication.
With full awareness and comfort.

🦷 Can hypnosis help at the dentist? New research says: YES.
More and more people feel anxious before dental visits — stress, tension, gag reflex, even panic…
The latest scientific review shows that hypnosis can genuinely help people who feel fear during dental treatment.
🔹 Less stress before and during the appointment
Hypnosis helps calm the body and relax the mind, making the whole visit more comfortable.
🔹 Better cooperation in the chair
When a patient is relaxed, it’s much easier to go through the procedure — without panic or a tense body.
🔹 Support with pain and anaesthesia
Studies show that some patients feel less discomfort and tolerate treatment better.
🔹 Helpful for both children and adults
Hypnosis works for adults and children who experience dental fear.
This is not magic and not “being put to sleep.”
It’s a form of deep focus and relaxation that helps the body switch off stress and tension.
