Are you experiencing restricted arm and shoulder movement? Normal day to day shoulder / arm movements reduced range of movement or loss of strength and power?

Muscles are critical to efficient movement and functionality of the shoulder….are yours?

Muscles play a vital role in the functioning of the shoulder, but why?

* barely any bony connection to the rest of the skeleton
* no socket at the shoulder
* ability and multi direction and multi plane opportunities of the arm

It is a misconception that there is a shoulder joint, or ball and socket as referenced. The ball or head of the arm bone (humerus) moves against the flat surface of the glenoid fossa, meaning there is actually very little connection of the shoulder to the rest by of the skeleton. Connection is at the collar bone.

A healthy functioning shoulder should allow the arm to move in many multi directions and planes. Muscles and the role they play in the function of the shoulder and arm are critical - dysfunctions need addressing soonest.

Do you suffer with muscle cramping?

Cramping can be linked to muscle fatigue, dehydration, stress, overload, poor circulation, repetitive movement or tight overworked muscles.

When a muscle cramps, it contracts involuntarily causing pain, tightness and restricted movement, impacting performance, sleep and everyday activities. Recurrent cramping can also place extra strain on joints and surrounding muscles.

Soft tissue therapy can help by reducing muscular tension, improving circulation, restoring tissue mobility and improving flexibility and muscle function. Treatment also helps identify muscular imbalances, trigger points and overuse patterns contributing to recurrent cramps.

Don’t ignore what your body is trying to tell you — prevention and maintenance are key to keeping the body moving well and reducing injury risk. Call Hagley Sports Massage on 07788 584553 to book an appointment today.

It’s hot hot hot ☀️☀️☀️ …Stay hydrated and top up your electrolytes helping you and your body to function properly.💧🍋🍈🍶

Electrolytes are the minerals ( e.g. sodium and potassium) responsible for directing water to areas of the body that need it the most, maintaining and regulating optimal fluid levels in cells.

Excessive sweating can deplete the electrolytes in our body, replenishing with water alone may not be enough to top them up. Low electrolyte levels can impair bodily functions i.e. muscular contractions, acid balance, fluid regulation …… cramping is a common issue when hydration / electrolyte levels run low.

Your heart is a muscle so electrolytes even help regulate your heart ❤️.

Citrus fruits, I.e. lemons and limes have a lot of electrolyte properties, so does coconut water.

Make your own electrolyte water drink as below:
Makes two 8 fl. Oz servings.
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup line juice
1 tablespoon honey
1 1/2 cups coconut water
2 cups cold water

Keep safe, hydrated and healthy.

Tight shoulders? Stiff hips? Aching back? Persistent “knots”?

Your body is surrounded by fascia — connective tissue that helps muscles move freely. Stress, training, poor posture, repetitive movement and inactivity can cause fascia to tighten and form adhesions (publicly referred to as knots), restricting movement and creating tension and pain.

These restrictions can:
• Reduce mobility
• Affect posture and movement
• Limit performance
• Increase injury risk

Soft Tissue Therapy and Sports Massage help restore movement by releasing tension and adhesions, improving circulation and helping muscles and fascia function properly again.

It’s not just for athletes. Whether you train hard, sit at a desk or work long hours on your feet, your body accumulates stress.

Don’t wait until pain stops you doing what you love — prevention and maintenance matter.

Are you still putting off booking that appointment?

With NHS waiting times rising, preventative care has never been more important. Too many people ignore small aches and niggles until they turn into pain, injury, and get side-lined.

If your car spluttered one morning, you’d book it into the garage straight away… so why not your body?

Regular soft tissue therapy, remedial therapy and sports massage can:
✅ Spot muscular imbalances early
✅ Stop niggles developing into injuries
✅ Keep your body moving efficiently, functioning properly
✅ Help you feel free, strong and confident
✅ Support your work, sport and daily life - allow you to live the life you want.

Think of it as an MOT for your body.

Don’t wait until pain forces you to stop. Your future self will thank you.

Help please in the next hour…

I’m on a course and we have been challenged by the lecturer for “our friends, clients, family” to describe us professionally in three words.

We have to submit the replies.

Could you please do so? x

Pain hurts, but pain also motivates a reaction, a preventative, alerting us to stop and listen, generally to stop pushing our bodies. The body chooses pain to reveal options and lessons to us in how to react, change, improve, treat and heal.

How would we detect injury unless it physically hurt? Pain is a form of communication for our body being able to talk to us, to take action and a means of prevention from more damage and harm.

Muscular niggles and injuries are indicators that we are not efficient posturally, biomechanically, moving or training effectively. These indicators may build up gradually over time, it's your choice as to whether you listen.

Soft tissue therapy / remedial massage has numerous benefits, working restoratively with the muscular, skeletal and central nervous system, in addressing issues, preventing niggles developing into further injury / complications.

Hagley Sports Massage listens to you, assess your body and advises and treats the three body systems. Through biomechanical assessment, connective tissue therapy and rehabilitative exercise, HAGLEY SPORTS MASSAGE will help you get back to the body you deserve to serve you.

Everything in the body is connected … working with injury, dysfunctions and pain, is like putting together the pieces of a jig saw!

If a link in a bicycle chain isn’t working properly neither will the rest of the chain and result in the bicycle not functioning. Our bodies are the same. We are connected from our toes to nostril and back down again by the kinetic chain. Did you know that we have twelve fascial slings interconnecting parts of our body to others e.g. hamstrings to the humerus (arm bone)?

When assessing injury, dysfunction, we need to look beyond the pain and investigate the reason this is happening. Assessment will be undertaken looking at all contributing factors and patterns, to piece together all the jig saw pieces” in order to build a picture and to provide a treatment solution. Soft tissue remedial therapy establishes the “why’s?” before implementing the “how’s?”.

Hagley Sports Massage looks well beyond the obvious, assesses the body as a whole. To discuss your issue and injury call today on ⁨07788 584553⁩.

Working with clients goes way beyond just the practicalities of treatment. Care, compassion, trust, support and friendship develops - I am so honoured to have such wonderful clients.

Amongst my clients running the London Marathon yesterday Michelle Aslett once again demonstrated how selfless, caring, compassionate and absolutely lovely and wonderful she is. She dedicated every mile to someone who has been impacted by Cancer, recording it on the way. She dedicated a mile to my sister, Tina, and forwarded me this last night. Totally floored me to be honest 😭😭. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, so proud of you for smashing it!

Attached is Michelle’s charity page for Marie Curie.
