Sisters Take on Fundraising Challenges in Memory of Their Dad

Two sisters are taking on a series of fundraising challenges in memory of their dad, while raising vital funds for an Ayrshire charity that has supported their family through an incredibly difficult time.

Lucy and Emily are fundraising for Beautiful Inside & Out, a local charity that provides support to families who have lost a loved one to su***de.

Their dad, David, tragically died by su***de last year at the age of 47.

Since his death, the charity has provided the family, particularly Lucy and Emily, with kindness, understanding and ongoing support as they have tried to come to terms with their loss.

The girls and their mum, Mechelle Smith, now want to give something back to the charity so that other families can receive the same help when they need it most.

To honour David’s memory, Lucy and Emily have planned a number of fundraising activities and personal challenges.

Lucy will climb Ben Lomond, while the sisters will also complete 47 random acts of kindness, with one act representing each year of their dad’s life.

They will also take part in a sponsored Sleep Under the Stars event and attend the Beautiful Inside & Out charity quiz night at NWKLEUS on Friday, August 14.

Mechelle said the family hopes the fundraising campaign will not only generate money for the charity, but also raise awareness of the support available to people affected by su***de.

She said: “Beautiful Inside & Out has provided our family, and especially the girls, with incredible support, kindness and understanding during the most difficult time of our lives.

“We wanted to give something back so that other families can receive the same support when they need it most.

“We also hope that sharing our story will encourage more open conversations around mental health and help people realise that support is available.”

The family is appealing to local businesses that may be willing to support the campaign by donating prizes for raffles being held as part of the fundraising efforts.

Members of the public are also being encouraged to support Lucy and Emily by making a donation to their campaign.

Massage is for every body - there's not one type of person or just one single body type that comes in to see me. Lots of people, from different backgrounds, varying age groups, all types of bodies come in - each person bringing their uniqueness, backgrounds, histories, circumstances and life stories with them.
