This can be on level 6 bases or above. Darker bases it will be a magenta brown, level 8 it’s more of a orangey pink. 9 and above it’s the perfect magenta hot pink like I’ve done here!

It’s the most juicy vivid pink out there. Never fails!

I’ve had a few clients move countries/house or just move on lately so I finally opened my diary 📔

I was so scared at first as I’m so content how I am in my bubble, but I’ve had some exciting consultations and now I’m full again!

My most loyal long term client (since 2017) blindsided me when I got my own salon, I’m not going to beat around the bush and mince my words for social media about it 🤣. It hurt, it made me think if they could do that to me then everyone will!

It was not only scary at such a pivotal point of my career, but it was a harsh reminder that people can and will cut you off without even a goodbye. Even after 7/8 years & a friendship outside of work.

I’ve paused taking new clients for a while now, as i don’t want regular clients to miss out.

But I had a few goodbyes lately due to several reasons and I thought I’ll put myself out there again and try gain some new vivid clients. Which I’ve now got!

If you find yourself with space in your diary, it’s not personal. It’s just the way the cookie crumbles and you have to be proactive at finding people to fill those gaps.

I’m so lucky that yet again I can close my diary/ be selective on the services I do.

Violet hair tips and tricks

Do your Violet tints pull too red? Do they still look dull and red based even with blue added ?… mine too!

I have to lighten the hair first, then pretone with blue mixertone and a level 5/6 violet for 5 minutes to create a smokey base first.

Then I use a blue based dark violet direct dye. Then I use a magenta to warm it up if too blue.

Magic!

Hairdressers, have you struggled with pastels before?

- it’s not because the hairs wet vs dry. It’s your canvas and your formulas.

- pre tone the warmth out the hair first.

- start with your lightest shade / product then add vivid shades in to create a more tonal pastel on a level 9.

- don’t waste your time drying the hair first.

- use cold water to rinse

- just like all colour, the rules apply to vivids. Not clash opposites together, they will repel.

- leave negative space or add a deeper shade for contrast.

SUN/UV DAMAGE VISUAL …

I noticed how my cushions were visibly discoloured after 1.5 years in the salon window. (Yes even in the gloomy UK)

This absolutely can happen to your hair colour, especially in brighter / hotter days.

Using both UV protection and heat protection are essential to stop the natural elements & heated styling tools from affecting your colour fade.

Protect your colour! Don’t be like this cushion. (Yes even uncoloured hair can be affected by the sun)

I’m not just attending this year, but I’m actually doing a live model on Monday.

This is something I’ve not felt comfortable doing previously but I want to really go for it this time, I’m more ready than ever.

I’m going to be showcasing the art of pastels, perfect for summer.

I’m going to be showing:
-how to utilise the colours in your cupboard, using shade shifter as a base.
-dimension with pastels.
-clever sectioning
-mapping and visualising my look
-using multiple techniques for a fun but cohesive finish

2.5 hour express colour change from brassy to dimensional, blended and beautiful blonde.

Take diagonals and apply chunky lowlights in your chosen shade. (Match the natural depth and make sure you add warmth even if requesting a cool result)

Move all the hair neatly to one side. Backcomb and freehand balayage.

Develop for 40 minutes. Tone & dry!

Shades used 7/97 8/71 8/73 for the lowlight

8/81 7/86 9/16 for the toner

Blondorplex and 6% for the freehand.
