Before-and-after photos can be a lovely way to show treatment results, and I’m grateful to patients who choose to share theirs. But sharing is never expected.

For many of my patients, treatment is something they do just for themselves. They might confide in someone close, or keep it entirely private. Either choice is respected.

Fewer before-and-afters on my page doesn’t mean fewer patients through my door. It reflects the personal nature of the care I provide, where privacy and dignity are fundamental to my practice as a registered nurse.

My discreet clinic location, well-spaced appointments and warm welcome all help you feel comfortable and relaxed.

You’re always welcome as wonderfully you. How much of your journey you share is entirely your choice.

Finally, I can share this with you… 🤍

After having to keep quiet for what has felt like quite a long time, I am absolutely delighted to finally share the outcome of DH Medical Aesthetics’ first Healthcare Improvement Scotland inspection.

I’m incredibly proud to have achieved GOOD across all three key areas assessed — Direction, Implementation & Delivery, and Results.

But beyond the grades, some of the findings mean even more to me.

To have the values and ethos I have worked so hard to build into DH Medical Aesthetics recognised through independent inspection — particularly my focus on safe, ethical and person-centred care — is genuinely quite humbling.

I’m also incredibly grateful to the patients who took the time to provide feedback directly to Healthcare Improvement Scotland, and to every patient who has shared feedback with me over the years. Every review, message, survey and conversation has helped me reflect, learn and continue developing the service.

And most importantly, thank you to all of my wonderful patients — those who have been with me from the very beginning and those who have joined me along the way.

Without you choosing to place your trust in me, none of this would have been possible. 🤍

Inspection is, of course, also about learning and continuing to improve, and that work never stops.

Well… this weekend definitely didn’t go quite to plan! 🤦🏼‍♀️

My case was packed and sitting in the car ready for what should have been a little bit of much-needed time out in Edinburgh, followed by a training day today that I’d really been looking forward to.

Instead, my weekend involved a morning on the phone to NHS 24, an afternoon in urgent care and being sent home with strict instructions to rest — accompanied by a fairly hefty course of steroids. 💊

Even after heading to urgent care, I had somehow convinced myself I’d still be getting back in the car and heading to Edinburgh afterwards… apparently the medical professionals looking after me had other ideas. 😂

So unfortunately I missed both my little hotel escape and today’s training, which I was genuinely gutted about.

I now have a hospital appointment first thing, with further investigations on Thursday once the steroids have had a little time to do their job.

Anyone who knows me will know that resting is really not my forte. Nurses are notoriously terrible patients and it appears I’m no exception. 🤣 But on this occasion, I’m going to listen to the advice I’ve been given and give myself a little time to recover properly.

For the next couple of weeks, I won’t be adding any additional appointments to my diary before Monday 5th October. Future appointments can absolutely still be booked as normal — I’m simply giving myself some breathing space and resisting my usual temptation to fill every available gap while I recover. 🤍

If you’ve emailed, messaged or contacted me and I haven’t responded yet, please bear with me. I’m not ignoring you and I will get back to everyone as soon as I can — replies may just be a little slower than usual over the next few days.

☀️ WHAT DID SUMMER LEAVE BEHIND? 🍂

We often think of sun exposure as a tan, a few extra freckles or perhaps a little pigmentation that appears after summer.

But the effects of UV exposure can be much more gradual — and cumulative.

Over time, you may begin to notice changes such as uneven pigmentation, dullness, dehydration, changes in texture, fine lines or reduced elasticity.

Sometimes it’s simply that familiar feeling of looking in the mirror and thinking…

“My skin isn’t bad. It just doesn’t look quite as good as it used to.”

And that’s exactly why autumn is such a good time to stop, reassess and turn the focus back to skin health.

That doesn’t automatically mean injectables. And it certainly doesn’t mean everyone needs the same treatment.

For one person, the right starting point might be good home skincare and daily SPF. For another, it may be a medical-grade peel, microneedling, a skin booster, polynucleotides or a biorestoration treatment.

The treatment should follow the skin — not the other way around.

So if you’re looking at all the different treatments available and thinking “I wouldn’t have a clue what to book…”

You don’t need to know. That’s my job. 🤍
