Drift Beauty Retreat
Helping Fife ladies look & feel amazing with advanced beauty treatments in a relaxing retreat.
Growing on Instagram isn’t just luck… it’s a skill.
For years, I thought posting consistently would be enough.
It wasn’t.
The biggest shift happened when I got clear on who I wanted my content to speak to. Once I stopped trying to appeal to everyone, everything changed.
Then I focused on creating better quality content.
Not because I bought expensive cameras or fancy equipment…
…but because I learned how to film in a way that made people stop scrolling.
The reel you’re watching is proof of that. My Instagram didn’t grow by accident. It grew because I changed how I created content.
My page grew from 657 followers to 15.7 in under 6 months.
If your page feels stuck, don’t ask, “How do I beat the algorithm?”
Ask yourself:
✨ Who am I trying to attract?
✨ Does my content speak directly to them?
✨ Is it filmed in a way that makes people want to keep watching?
Those three questions can completely change your results.
I’m building something for exactly this….keep watching ✨

Ditch the Spacemasks. 👀
Unpopular opinion? Maybe.
But if you’re using a self-heating eye mask on every facial, it’s worth asking yourself… is it actually adding enough value to justify the cost?
Let’s do the maths.
20 facials a week × around £3.50 per mask = £70 every single week.
That’s around £3,600 a year on one disposable item.
Then there’s ordering them, storing them, making sure you never run out…
Instead, I use a simple face flannel.
✨ Warmed before application.
✨ Lightly scented with essential oils.
✨ It blocks out the light beautifully.
✨ It feels soft, comforting and luxurious.
After each treatment? It goes straight into the wash, ready to be used again.
Luxury isn’t about how expensive something is.
It’s about how it makes your client feel.
Sometimes the simplest touches create the most memorable experience and they’re kinder to your business too.
Would your client really miss the disposable eye mask… or would they remember how relaxed they felt?
This happened to me 2 weeks ago….
I’m interested….What would you do? 👀
I had someone message me saying they had a gift voucher to use and were worried it was about to expire. They’d checked my online booking and with only two weeks left on the voucher, couldn’t find any availability. And I took some grief for this via text.
As my diary is usually booked months in advance, I’m pretty relaxed about voucher expiry dates if someone has genuinely struggled to get booked in. So I explained that and asked for the voucher number so I could look it up and offer some dates.
She didn’t have the voucher number, so I asked who had bought it and how much it was for. I only sell gift vouchers online, so every single one has a digital record. It keeps everything organised and accounted for.
She told me it was a £100 voucher and gave me the purchaser’s name.
I searched my system…Nothing.
I searched again…Still nothing.
At this point, my brain went into overdrive. Had I forgotten to record a sale? Was there a glitch in my voucher system? Was I about to honour a £100 treatment that I’d never actually been paid for?
Then my husband asked the simplest question…
“Are you sure it’s even for your salon?”
I messaged her back and even suggested another local salon with a similar name to mine.
The messages went quiet.
Eventually she replied…
“Yes, it’s for them.” That was it.
No apology. No “Sorry, I got the wrong salon.” Just…“It’s for them.”
Meanwhile, I’d spent ages trying to help, worrying I’d somehow lost a £100 sale and bending over backwards to honour an expiry date on a voucher that had already been sitting unused for six months.
Moral of the story…
✔️ Have a proper voucher system.
✔️ Keep records of everything.
✔️ Don’t always assume you’ve made the mistake.
And if you’re a customer, apologise for your mistake 🤔
What would you have done?
