The Secret Garden Rooms

Four years in a row. 🤍

Today is the Scotland Prestige Awards, and although we won’t be there celebrating in person because we’re busy doing what we do best — looking after our lovely clients — it still feels very special to mark the occasion.

We’re incredibly proud to have been named Massage Therapy Clinic of the Year 2026/27, making this our fourth consecutive year receiving this award.

When I look back at how The Secret Garden Rooms started and everything that has changed and grown since then, achievements like this are a really lovely reminder of what we’ve built.

And especially after the article we shared recently, it feels quite fitting to be able to celebrate another little milestone in the story.

A huge thank you, as always, to every client who continues to choose us, recommend us and support the clinic. You’re the reason we get to keep doing what we love.

We won’t be swapping the treatment room for the awards ceremony today, but we’ll definitely be raising a little glass later.

Wishing all of the other winners and everyone attending the awards today a brilliant day, enjoy every minute of it. 🤍

What’s changing at The Secret Garden Rooms 🤎

Following on from my recent post about the changes within the business, I wanted to officially introduce the next chapter for Hollie too.

Hollie is now working on a self-employed basis from The Secret Garden Rooms, which means that while we’ll still both be working from the same space, we’ll each be running our own individual treatment businesses.

For clients, very little will actually change.

You can still book online as normal, or rebook your next appointment with us while you’re in the clinic. You can also continue to message The Secret Garden Rooms page or email us as usual, as we both still have access to those.

The main difference is that we’ll now each be taking our own payments and managing our own individual business behind the scenes.

Hollie now also has her own business page holliekirk_massagetherapist so if you’d prefer to contact her directly, you’ll be able to do that there as well.

Everything should still feel very familiar, same space, same treatments, same faces, just with a slightly different setup behind the scenes.

I’m really happy that we’ve found a way for us both to continue working from The Secret Garden Rooms while moving into this next stage of the business. 🤎

I feel like it’s probably time for a little update from me, because there have been quite a few changes behind the scenes over the last couple of months and I know some of you have been wondering what’s happening.

Since coming back to work after maternity leave I’ve really enjoyed being back with clients and getting back into treatments, but trying to juggle being a mum, treating clients, running the training side of the business and managing a team has been a lot.

Over the last few months our team has become smaller for a mixture of different reasons, and it’s naturally forced me to stop and think about what I actually want the business — and my life — to look like now.

For a long time I thought growth meant building a bigger team, having more therapists and creating a bigger clinic.

I’m really glad I tried it. If I hadn’t, I think I would always have wondered whether that was the direction I should have taken.

But I’ve also realised that just because something can grow in one direction doesn’t necessarily mean it has to.

So The Secret Garden Rooms is going to become a much smaller team again.

Hollie and I will still both be working from the clinic, although things will look slightly different as she moves into working independently. I’ll share more on what that will look like later this week.

Appointments will continue to be available online as usual.

I’d be lying if I said this change doesn’t feel a little bittersweet.

There’s a small part of me that wondered whether scaling things back meant I’d somehow failed. But actually, the more I’ve sat with it, the more I realise it doesn’t feel like failure.

It feels like recognising that the version of success I wanted a few years ago isn’t necessarily the version I want now.

For this stage of my life, I want to put my energy into my family, my clients and my students, and into doing those things really well.

As The Secret Garden Rooms enters a slightly different chapter I want to thank you, as always, to everyone who has supported this business through every version of it. Carol Anne x

A moment to celebrate.

With the Prestige Awards ceremony coming up on 11th October, I thought I’d finally share this.

The Secret Garden Rooms was named Fife Massage Therapy Clinic of the Year, which I’m incredibly proud of.

Reading the write-up was actually quite emotional, especially seeing the clinic, the treatments we offer and the work we’ve built over the years recognised in this way.

We won’t be attending the awards ceremony this year but I want to wish all of the other winners and finalists the very best for the evening. I hope you all have an amazing time celebrating.

The Secret Garden Rooms started in 2019, and so much has changed and evolved since then, but the heart of it has always been the same, providing knowledgeable, compassionate care and making people feel genuinely looked after.

Thank you to every client who has supported us, recommended us, travelled to see us and trusted us with their care. It means more than you probably realise.

A little local business love 🤎

My lovely friend Wendy creates the most beautiful home fragrances, and she’s very kindly given us one of her reed diffusers for the clinic.

We’ve had her diffusers in the space before and clients are always commenting on how amazing they smell. This one is Ginger & Lemongrass and it is honestly gorgeous.

If you fall in love with it while you’re here, it’s now really easy to get one for yourself too. Just pick up one of Wendy’s cards, scan the QR code and it’ll take you straight through to her website.

It’s always lovely being able to support another local business, especially when the products are this good. And as much as I love this scent, all of Wendy’s fragrances are beautiful.

Thank you so much to everyone who takes the time to write a review ❤️ We would absolutely love if you have had a visit recently to leave us a google review or a Booksy review. It helps other clients find our services and really supports our small business. ✨

A little glimpse into one of our treatment rooms ✨

We wanted this space to feel calm, warm and completely private, somewhere you can switch off the minute you walk through the door.

Soft lighting, cosy textures, candles and a quiet treatment space… because sometimes the environment matters just as much as the treatment itself.

You’d never expect it tucked away in a business centre in Kirkcaldy 🤭

Your little escape from the outside world 🤍

One of the biggest misconceptions around massage and cancer is that you simply can’t have one.

For many people, that can mean giving up something they previously loved at exactly the point when comfort, relaxation and supportive touch can mean so much.

Oncology massage isn’t about ignoring what your body is going through. It’s about understanding it well enough to adapt.

Your treatment might look different from the massage you had before your diagnosis, pressure, positioning, treatment area and length can all be adjusted depending on what’s happening for you.

And some days, what you need might be different from the last.

That’s absolutely okay.

The aim is never to push your body. It’s to meet you where you are that day and give you a space where, for a little while, you can simply receive. 🤍
