✨ DERMAPLANING FAQ: “WILL MY FACIAL HAIR GROW BACK THICKER?”

This is probably one of the questions people worry about most before trying dermaplaning.

No — dermaplaning does not change the structure of your hair follicle or make your facial hair grow back thicker, darker or faster.

Dermaplaning uses a sterile blade to gently remove superficial dead skin cells and fine vellus hair — the soft “peach fuzz” many of us naturally have on our faces.

Because the hair is cut at the surface rather than being removed from the follicle, it can sometimes feel slightly different as it begins to grow back, but dermaplaning doesn’t turn fine vellus hair into coarse terminal hair.

Why do clients choose dermaplaning?

✨ Removes superficial dead skin cells
✨ Removes peach fuzz
✨ Leaves the skin feeling beautifully smooth
✨ Can create a smoother surface for makeup application
✨ Can be incorporated into a wider facial/skincare plan

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having facial hair either. 🤍 Dermaplaning is simply an option for people who enjoy how their skin looks and feels afterwards.

As with any treatment, suitability matters. I’ll always check your skin and medical history before treatment rather than assuming dermaplaning is right for everyone.

📚✨ WHY DO I KEEP TRAINING?

Because in aesthetics, I don’t believe learning should stop when you receive a certificate.

Behind every appointment at Aesthetics By Loz are hours of studying, practical training, anatomy, skin knowledge, health and safety, contraindications, consultation skills and learning when not to treat.

I’m currently continuing my formal aesthetics education and working through my Ofqual Level 4, with plans to progress further through Levels 5 and 7.

And yes… sometimes that means evenings surrounded by notes, diagrams and coursework! 😂☕️

But there’s a reason I invest so much time in education.

When someone sits in my treatment chair, they’re trusting me with their face, their skin and their wellbeing.

I want my clients to feel comfortable asking:

Why are you recommending this?
What are the risks?
What alternatives do I have?
What happens if I decide not to have it?

You should never feel silly for asking questions.

For me, good aesthetics isn’t about simply learning how to perform more treatments.

It’s about continually improving my knowledge so I can make better, safer and more considered decisions with my clients. 🤍

And sometimes the right decision is to say “I don’t think you need that.”

That’s part of the job too.

✨ Today’s Aesthetics By Loz Content — Polynucleotides: What Are They?

🧬 POLYNUCLEOTIDES… WHAT ACTUALLY ARE THEY?

You’ve probably seen the word polynucleotides everywhere lately—but understandably, many clients still aren’t quite sure what they are or why they’re used.

Polynucleotides are injectable products used in aesthetic practice with the aim of supporting skin quality and improving the appearance of the skin over time.

Unlike traditional dermal filler, the intention isn’t to dramatically add volume or change your facial features.

Depending on the product and treatment area, polynucleotides may be considered when someone wants to work on concerns such as:

✨ Skin quality and texture
✨ Fine lines
✨ Hydration and overall skin appearance
✨ Delicate-looking skin, including certain products designed for the eye area
✨ Skin showing signs of ageing

One thing I think is particularly important is that a trending treatment isn’t automatically the right treatment for you.

Before recommending polynucleotides, I want to know about your skin, medical history, concerns and expectations.

Sometimes polynucleotides might be an option.

Sometimes a skin booster, mesotherapy, microneedling or simply a good skincare plan may be more appropriate.

And sometimes the answer may be no treatment at all.

That’s what a proper consultation is for. 🤍

An Indian Head Massage is a lovely way to switch off and enjoy some dedicated time for yourself. The treatment traditionally focuses on areas including the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and head, using massage techniques chosen to suit the individual.

For me, Aesthetics By Loz isn’t only about injectable or skin treatments. Confidence and self-care can mean different things on different days.
