After 11 years of injecting, I’ve learnt that looking after your face isn’t always about having more done.

There are things I genuinely think are worth investing in — and some of them are much less exciting than you might expect. šŸ˜‚

Good skincare.
SPF.
Regular facials.
Treatments that support your skin over time, like polynucleotides.
And, probably most importantly, having someone you trust to give you an honest opinion.

I don’t think you should ever feel like you need to keep spending money on your face just because you’ve started having aesthetic treatments.

Sometimes the best advice I can give you is what I wouldn’t spend your money on.

That’s why I love a proper consultation. We can have a chat, talk through what you’re hoping to achieve and work out what actually makes sense for you — without any pressure.

My consultations are free and there’s absolutely no obligation to have treatment.

If you’re curious but not sure where to start, send me a message and we can have an informal chat. I’d love to hear from you.

Yeah it’s human nature to feel like we’re supposed to know stuff and feel like we’re going to be judged if we don’t know….

This is definitely not what a consultation will feel like- I’ll start by asking you about your goals and give you the options within my toolkit that can bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be.

If I don’t think I can reasonably offer you a pathway to where you want to go, I’ll tell you! If I know of an alternative solution that I think might help I will also tell you this.

Reach out and DM me if you’d like to come in for an informal chat about your goals šŸ’œ

LIP FILLER DOESN’T HAVE TO LOOK LIKE LIP FILLER.

She’d had lip filler before — no complaints, nothing wrong with it. I asked what she paid last time, just out of curiosity. Ā£160.

Then she smiled and said:

ā€œBut they weren’t as nice as these.ā€

Her last treatment used horizontal lines. I went with a vertical technique instead — I just felt it suited her lip shape better.

Because sometimes it’s not about adding more.

It’s about understanding the lips you’ve actually got and knowing what will suit them.

A little hydration. A little shape. A little TLC.

Not every pair of lips needs to be bigger.

If you’re curious about what might suit your lips, message the page to book a consultation.

You know when you’ve taken the time to make an effort, you feel good in yourself, and then you catch your reflection and think…

ā€œIs that what I look like?ā€

Or you see a photo someone’s taken of you and think, ā€œThat’s not how I feel.ā€

It’s frustrating because you can’t necessarily identify one thing you don’t like. You just know something feels… different.

And it’s not necessarily that you want to change your face.

In fact, you can start questioning why you’ve suddenly become unhappy with parts of your face that you never had a problem with before — because actually, you liked how you looked before.

I completely understand this.

And this is exactly why I’m such a big advocate for regenerative treatments.

I don’t want my clients looking at a treatment menu and trying to work out what they need to change. I want to understand what they’re noticing, what’s bothering them, and why they feel different about their face in the first place šŸ’œ

Cantik Aesthetics turned 2 this week šŸ„¹šŸ’œ

And instead of doing the birthday post I first thought of, I’ve actually found myself reflecting quite a lot on the last two years.

I think the biggest thing I’ve realised is how differently I look at other business owners now.

It’s a bit like having children really… until you’ve actually done it, you have NO idea how much goes into it šŸ˜‚

From the outside, you see the nice clinic, the social media posts, the promotions, the ā€˜before and afters’… and you just assume someone is absolutely smashing it.

But you don’t see the worrying, the constant decision making, the financial side of things, the admin, the learning, the self doubt, the days where you question whether you’re actually getting anywhere.

And I’m definitely guilty of looking at other businesses and thinking ā€œWow, they’re doing so wellā€ without ever really knowing what’s going on behind the scenes.

I don’t do that as much anymore.

Because I know now how hard it can be to build something from the ground up.

Cantik isn’t where I want it to be yet. There’s still a LOT I want to do and achieve.

But when I actually stop and look at what I’ve built in two years, I am really proud of myself.

So this is a slightly more honest 2nd birthday post.

Not ā€œlook how successful I amā€ā€¦

More ā€œlook what I’ve managed to build, and I’m only just getting started.ā€ šŸ’œ

If you’re a business owner too, let me know I’m not alone…for the lovely of God!

And my clients? Especially my OGs….thank you. For believing in me before I believed in myself. Business owners always remember their OGs 🄰

I’m not scared of getting older….

I’m scared of looking back feeling like I didn’t invest in the woman I was becoming.

This shoot actually made me think about that a lot.

My fitness journey started as something physical, but it’s become so much more than that. It’s taught me discipline, consistency, strength and probably most importantly, that I’m worth the time and effort.

And that’s how I feel about investing in myself generally.

It isn’t about trying to stop ageing or constantly finding something to fix.

It’s about pouring into myself along the way.

Looking after my skin. Getting stronger. Taking care of my body. Challenging myself. Learning. Growing. Doing things that make me feel confident and proud of the woman I’m becoming.

Aesthetics is just one small part of that for me, it’s never been everything.

I want to be able to look back at my life and know I invested in myself. I never used to, now I make sure I do every single day.

Not perfectly, not obsessively

Just intentionally šŸ’œ

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Emma Stone for capturing these during a wonderful shoot (you’re just the best) and to Katie Hilton-Bird | Online Health Coach for organising the shoot and, more importantly, for being such a huge part of my journey- it goes beyond fitness. It’s confidence, it’s structure, it’s routine and it touches every part of my life.

I’m really proud of how these make me feel when I look at them. They show me that I took the time and effort to invest in myself šŸ’œ
