Most of my clientele are women in their 40s, 50s and 60s, and trust me… my tanning room has heard a lot of self-doubt over the years.

“I need to lose weight.”
“My stomach looks terrible.”
“I have too much cellulite.”
“My body isn’t what it used to be.”
“I’m probably too old for a spray tan.”

Real bodies have body fat.
Real bodies have cellulite.
Stretch marks. Wrinkles. Loose skin. Scars. Disproportions.

Real bodies change.

Pregnancy changes us.
Life changes us.
Perimenopause and menopause change us.
Age changes us.
And that is completely NORMAL.

Working so closely with women’s bodies has taught me two things I wish more women knew:
1. Nobody is going to remember the size of your belly. They’re going to remember YOU.
2. Just because YOU notice something every time you look in the mirror, it doesn’t mean everyone else notices it too.

We look at ourselves under a microscope. We see every little thing we would like to change.
Other people usually just see… US.

So please don’t wait for a smaller body, a flatter stomach, smoother skin or a “better version” of yourself before you allow yourself to feel confident, wear the dress, book the tan, take the photo or simply enjoy your life.

At A1 Classic, it’s not just about what happens on stage, it’s about how athletes feel throughout the whole experience.

Nicola and Kenny, the faces behind A1 Classic, put so much attention into the organisation, timing and, most importantly, making sure both athletes and staff are looked after.

Backstage, everything is designed to make competition day as comfortable and stress-free as possible. You’ll find a dedicated tanning area, pump-up area, glaze area, plenty of chairs and floor space where athletes can sit, stretch out and rest between classes.
And yes… there are even tables with food and essentials - not only for the staff, but for the athletes too. 🍚🥜🍰

But what makes A1 Classic really special is the atmosphere. It feels friendly, supportive and welcoming. Athletes might be competing against each other on stage, but backstage they’re talking, helping each other, sharing experiences and learning from one another.

You come to compete, but you also grow together, learn together and become part of the community.

That’s what an independent bodybuilding show should feel like.

We help athletes dry off using towels and rollers, remove excess sweat and make any necessary touch-ups before it’s time to step back on stage.

I met Marcin 2 years ago, it was his very first bodybuilding show and his first competition tan with me.

2 years later, we met again. Same place. Same tanning tent. But with two more years of experience behind him. 🤌🏼

I still remember when we first met and he told me he didn’t have a coach. He was doing EVERYTHING by himself: learning, researching, experimenting, making mistakes, fixing them and trying again.

And 2 years later? He’s still doing it all by himself.
No coach. Just self-learning, trial and error, discipline and consistency.

And honestly, that makes what he has achieved even more impressive. Building your physique, preparing for a show and learning your own body without someone telling you exactly what to do takes a huge amount of dedication.
