When my gorgeous client came to me, she was caught in that endless cycle of chasing her roots but wasn’t ready to completely cover up her wisdom strands. Her goal? To soften and blend her greys.

But working with naturally dark Asian hair presents a unique challenge. As her hair was already quite dark this meant we couldn't just snap our fingers and get the perfect, seamless result overnight without compromising her hair's integrity.

This was a true colour correction journey, and it took strategy, patience, and 3 meticulously planned visits to get it flawless:

🎨 Visit 1: Breaking the harsh line. We started by breaking up her old, flat dark dye and lifting her natural base carefully with a gentle colour remover. The focus here was shifting away from stark lines and introducing the first layer of soft dimension.
🎨 Visit 2: Building the bridge. During her second session, we focused on strategic placement. I weaved in rich, dimensional brunette tones using a lightener then applied a brunette tone.
🎨 Visit 3: The sweet spot. By her third visit, we hit absolute gold and reached a target result we were both happy with.

My guest understood that this was a process and would need to have a few sessions. This was also never about going fully grey but to have something that she was happy to go with until she is ready to take that step into a grey blend. This colour result had helped my guest go further with her grown out roots and this was what we were aiming for.

You don't have to go full on grey to achieve something that is less maintenance.

The final look? An incredible, multi-tonal brunette blend that allows her to go longer between appointments. This allows for less maintenance, and a color that looks entirely intentional and modern. She is officially obsessed—and honestly, so am I! 🤎

Maximum impact, minimum commitment. How to fake a full head of highlights ✨

Remember my guest from the last post? Well this is her hair after refreshing it. I used strategic placement for her highlights and brightened her hair line giving her a fresh new look without doing the whole head.

This is great for anyone wanting to maintain their balayage/highlights without having to commit to a full head each time depending on their current hair status. This doesn't work for everyone and therefore a consultation is required.

Wow! Can you believe I did her colour 9 months ago?!

I used a low strength bleach mix and no toner yet by now I would have expected the colour to go brassy and it hasn't!

Strategic placement means this colour lasts for a while and doesn't have any harsh regrowth lines blending out more seamlessly. Now my guest is ready to have a refresh. Watch out for the refresh!
