✨ Another little addition for Emma! ✨

My returning client Emma came to see me a few days ago to add a gorgeous high lobe piercing to her collection, and I think she chose the perfect piece to finish it off! ⭐️

We fitted this beautiful titanium star attachment, and it looks so pretty sitting in the high lobe. Just the right amount of detail to add something a little extra to her ear stack. ✨

While Emma was with me, I also had a little check and clean-up of her conch and daith piercings, and I'm so pleased to say they're both healing beautifully! 🥰

Now Emma has declared that the high lobe is her last piercing… 👀😂

But we all know how these things go! Will this really be the final addition, or will another little piercing eventually find its way onto the ear stack?! 🤔✨

Only time will tell… 😂💕

My beautiful friend Aideen was barely back from our weekend away at Center Parcs before she was in the studio today for her second lobe piercings! 😂💕 And honestly, what better way to round off the weekend?!

Aideen had specially ordered these gorgeous solid gold Trinity Gem studs from Tish Lyon for today, and they were absolutely perfect for her seconds. ✨💛

We also recently gave Aideen’s high lobe a little upgrade to this beautiful triple gem 14ct gold emerald and clear piece. 💚✨ Of course, we had to keep her little nod to her Irish roots with that gorgeous emerald green!

Now the big question is… will Aideen ever brave another piercing now the two she always said she’d have are finally done?! 👀😂

🎓✨ YEAR 5 & YEAR 6 PARENTS-IF YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT EAR PIERCING, NOW IS THE TIME TO PLAN AHEAD!✨🎓

Is your child in Year 6 and dreaming of having their ears pierced before they head off to secondary school? 👂🏼💎

I’m absolutely here for it, but my biggest piece of advice is: the sooner, the better!

It can be tempting to wait until the summer holidays, but there’s a really important reason to think about getting those little lobes pierced well before then.

Many secondary schools have strict jewellery policies and require earrings to be removed for PE lessons, sometimes every week.

And while a piercing may look healed after the initial healing period, the piercing channel underneath takes much longer to fully mature.

Getting them pierced earlier gives the ears more time to properly heal and strengthen before secondary school starts and your child potentially needs to regularly remove and replace their earrings.

🌿 A little bit of forward planning now can save a LOT of irritation later.

If you've been thinking “We’ll do it in the summer…”, why wait?

October half term or Christmas (Christmas present piercings!) can be the perfect opportunity to start the healing journey, giving those piercings plenty of time to settle before the transition to secondary school.

And Year 5 parents- you can get ahead of the worry altogether!🙌🏼

If your child is keen to have their ears pierced and secondary school is still a little way off, getting started during Year 5 gives their piercings even more time to fully heal before they face regular PE and jewellery removal.

✨ Less pressure to rush before the summer
✨ Time to establish good aftercare habits
✨ Better prepared for secondary school jewellery policies
✨ And much less last-minute stress for everyone!

Of course, every child and every piercing heals differently, and I’ll always advise you based on the individual piercing and how it is healing.

✨ Not Every “Lobe” Is Actually a Lobe! ✨

Just because we call a piercing a “high lobe” doesn't automatically mean it's a lobe piercing.

Your anatomy is what determines where that piercing actually sits. As you move higher up the ear, you can reach the point where you're no longer piercing soft lobe tissue and are starting to enter cartilage.

👂 Lobe piercing:
Placed through the softer, fleshy tissue of the ear lobe.

👂 High lobe:
A high lobe can still be through soft tissue, but depending on your individual anatomy, it may sit very close to, or even into cartilage.

👂 And sometimes… it could actually be a low helix!
If the placement has moved high enough and is sitting within the cartilage, what you might think of as your “4th lobe” could technically be a low helix instead. ✨

And this is where things can get a little more complicated…

If your “high lobe” is actually passing through cartilage, the healing process can be very different from a traditional lobe piercing.

Cartilage piercings can be more sensitive during healing and can be more prone to irritation from:

✨ Sleeping on them
✨ Accidental knocks
✨ Hair catching or snagging
✨ Headphones, hats or other pressure
✨ Jewellery being caught or moved
✨ General day-to-day irritation

All of these things can cause inflammation and irritation bumps and can significantly delay the healing process.

And because cartilage takes considerably longer to heal than soft tissue, you may find that your “high lobe” takes a lot longer to fully heal than your traditional lobes.

This is why I always assess your ear before deciding on placement. What might be a 3rd lobe on one person could be a cartilage piercing, or even a low helix, on someone else's ear.

The number of your piercing doesn't determine what type of piercing it is. Your anatomy does.🤍

So if you're thinking about adding another “lobe” piercing, don't automatically assume it'll heal like your previous lobes. Let me assess your anatomy and we'll work out exactly what we're dealing with.

✨ A gorgeous little addition for Lucy today! ✨

Lucy came in today for a 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙪𝙨 𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 and chose to upgrade to this beautiful gold titanium labret with a tiny 2.5mm crystal gem. 💛✨

And I think it’s the perfect choice! 😍

The delicate little gem adds just the right amount of sparkle and sits so beautifully alongside Lucy’s three existing lobe piercings, which were done elsewhere.

Sometimes it’s that one little extra piercing that pulls everything together and I think this one has done exactly that! 💕✨

✨ Becky’s back… and we’ve added some 3rd lobes! ✨

Becky came back to me today for her 3rd lobe piercings and of course, this gave me the perfect opportunity to have a little check in on her healing helix too! 🥰

And I have to say… it’s healing perfectly!🙌🏼✨

Becky has been looking after her helix so well leaving it alone, not fiddling or playing with it, and giving it the time and space it needs to heal. And it’s definitely paying off! 💕

So I already know those new 3rd lobes are going to be in very good hands! 😍 I’ve no doubt Becky will look after these just as well, and I can’t wait to see them settle and heal beautifully too.

Now the big question is… what will she choose next?! 👀😂

Personally, I think a conch would sit beautifully in there! 😍✨ Just saying…

✨ A little helix upgrade for lovely Angie today! ✨

Angie is a regular client and while she was in today, as always, I had a little check in with her helix piercing and at 3 months in, it’s healing absolutely beautifully! 🥰

And do you know why? Because Angie has absolutely bossed the aftercare!🙌🏼

✨ She leaves it alone.
✨ She doesn’t fiddle or play with it.
✨ She doesn’t twist or turn it.

Lovely Louisa spotted my little blue opal and immediately knew exactly where she wanted it, her high lobe piercing! 😍✨

And honestly, I can see why! The gorgeous blue opal sits so prettily in the high lobe and adds the perfect little pop of colour. 💙 Such a simple piece, but it makes such a lovely statement.

I absolutely love how this has turned out, and I think Louisa made the perfect choice! 🥰
