What Happens After Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment? ✨

Many clients expect the hair to disappear immediately—but that’s not how laser hair removal works! Here’s what you can expect after your appointment:

Immediately after treatment�It’s completely normal to experience mild redness and perifollicular oedema (small bumps around each hair follicle). This is a positive sign that the laser has successfully targeted the hair follicle. These bumps usually settle within a few hours, although they can last up to 24–48 hours and for some clients even longer.

The next few days�The treated area may feel slightly warm or sensitive, similar to mild sunburn. Continue to follow your aftercare advice, avoid heat and sun exposure, and apply SPF to any exposed treated areas.
1–3 weeks after treatment�This is when the magic happens! The treated hairs begin to shed from the skin. It can sometimes look as though the hair is still growing, but it’s actually the treated hair working its way out of the follicle.
💙 Don’t pluck or wax the hairs.�💙 You can shave if needed.�💙 Gentle exfoliation once or twice a week (once your skin has fully settled) can help the shedding process.
Why do I still see hair?�Laser only works on hairs in the active growth phase (anagen). Not every hair is in this phase at the same time, which is why a course of treatments is needed to achieve the best results.
Patience is key! Each session reduces the number of active hairs, leaving you with smoother skin and finer, slower regrowth over time.

With the beautiful weather this week, we’re reminding all of our clients that sun exposure and laser treatments are not a safe combination.

To ensure your treatment is both safe and effective, please remember:

☀️ Avoid sunbathing before and after your appointment.�🧴 Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30-50 every day (even if it’s cloudy).�🚫 Don’t attend your appointment if the treatment area is sunburnt, tanned or even just “sun-kissed.”�👒 Keep treated areas covered where possible and reapply SPF regularly.
Your safety will always come first. If your skin has had too much sun, we may need to postpone your appointment until it’s safe to proceed.
