Women’s health isn’t always something people feel comfortable talking about, but I think it’s important that we do.

This isn’t a sympathy post. It’s simply me being honest, because if sharing my experience helps even one person feel less alone, then it’s worth it. So for the third time, this is me yesterday ❤️

Many of you know that I had pre-eclampsia with both of my pregnancies. It led to difficult and traumatic births, and although I’m incredibly grateful to have my two boys here safe and well, there have been ongoing health challenges ever since.

Due to complications during childbirth, I’ve faced issues with my bladder and bowel that have required surgery. I’ve already had two operations and will need at least another two in the future. I’ve also dealt with fibroids however a few years down the line I underwent surgery to prevent further complications.

It’s not always easy to talk about things like incontinence, fibroids, fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, hysterectomy or the lasting effects childbirth can have on our bodies. These are deeply personal experiences, and so many women suffer in silence.

One thing I’ve learned through all of this is how important it is to have someone who truly understands. I’ve been lucky enough to connect with women who have experienced similar challenges, and having someone to talk to who genuinely gets it can make all the difference.

Over the past 24 years, through my work and the thousands of women I’ve had the privilege of treating and supporting, I’ve heard so many stories of strength, heartbreak, resilience, hope, loss, recovery, and joy. I feel incredibly grateful for every conversation and every woman who has trusted me with their story.

So if you’re struggling with any aspect of women’s health, please know that you’re not alone. Whether it’s fertility, baby loss, surgery after childbirth, or something you simply find difficult to talk about, there is support out there.
