Your pigmentation has a memory.
That same patch on your upper lip.
That same darkness on your cheeks.
Those marks that seem to return every summer.
That uneven tone that gets louder the moment the weather changes.
It is not random.
Pigment-prone skin often behaves in patterns because certain areas have already been triggered before.
That skin may have been affected by UV exposure, heat, inflammation, hormones, breakouts, picking, irritation, barrier damage or over-treatment.
So when summer comes around again and the skin is exposed to more light, more heat, more sweat, more friction and more inflammation, those same areas can become more reactive again.
This is why pigmentation can feel like it “comes back” in the same places.
And this is also why I do not treat pigment-prone skin with random brightening products and blind optimism. A bold stance in an industry that keeps selling chaos in serum form.
Because if the same pigment returns every year, we need to ask better questions.
Why that area?
What triggered it originally?
Is it hormonal-looking?
Is it post-inflammatory?
Is the barrier weaker there?
Is the skin being irritated by the current routine?
Is heat making it worse?
Are breakouts or picking leaving marks?
Is the treatment plan suitable for summer?
Pigmentation needs more than correction.
It needs pattern recognition.
It needs protection.
It needs calming.
It needs hydration.
It needs barrier support.
It needs intelligent actives.
It needs treatments chosen around what your skin can tolerate, not what sounds strongest.
Because the aim is not to attack the skin into submission.
The aim is to make the skin feel less triggered, less inflamed and better supported so we can manage pigment more effectively.
This is exactly why June is your protection phase within The Summer Skin Strategy.
If your pigmentation returns in the same places every summer, your skin is not being random.
It is showing us a pattern.
And once we understand the pattern, we can build the plan properly.

Your pigmentation might not just be reacting to the sun. It might also be reacting to heat.
This is one of the most overlooked parts of summer pigment care.
A lot of people assume pigmentation only gets worse when they are directly in sunlight or when they burn.
But pigment-prone skin can also be influenced by heat, inflammation and skin stress.
Think about:
Hot cars
Warm weather
Sweating
Exercise
Hot showers
Holidays
Flushed skin
Breakouts
Picking
Friction
Over-active skincare
A weakened barrier
All of these can make the skin more reactive.
And when pigment-prone skin is more reactive, uneven tone and post-inflammatory marks can become harder to manage.
This is why I do not believe pigment-prone summer skin should always be attacked with stronger products.
More exfoliation is not always smarter.
More actives are not always the answer.
A stronger brightening routine will not always fix pigmentation if the skin is constantly inflamed underneath.
Sometimes the most intelligent approach is:
Calm first.
Hydrate properly.
Support the barrier.
Reduce irritation.
Protect daily.
Use antioxidants intelligently.
Choose summer-safe treatments.
This is where treatments such as LED, Lumixa Skin Normaliser, electroporation and bespoke calming facials can be useful, because they allow us to support the skin without pushing it into unnecessary inflammation.
It is also where products such as CLINICARE Pure, SVR Cicavit+ HPPI, SVR B3 Hydra Essence and ISOCLEAN spray may have a place for the right skin, especially where irritation, breakouts, heat, redness or barrier stress are involved.
Pigment-prone skin does not just need brightening.
It needs calming, protecting and controlling.
Because if your skin feels under stress all summer, it is going to behave like stressed skin.
And for some people, that shows up as darker patches, uneven tone and marks that linger.
If pigmentation gets worse for you every summer, June is the time to understand what is keeping your skin reactive.

🙈Controversial opinion🙉: your pigmentation routine might be too aggressive for summer.
A lot of people try to treat pigmentation by doing more.
More exfoliation.
More acids.
More retinol.
More brightening products.
More “quick fix” routines.
But pigment-prone skin does not always need more pressure.
Especially in summer.
When the skin is already dealing with more light exposure, heat, sweat, friction and inflammation, an overly aggressive routine can leave the skin more irritated, more reactive and harder to manage.
And irritated skin is not where I want to start when we are trying to improve pigmentation.
This is where pigment care needs to become more intelligent.
Because pigmentation is not always just a “dark mark” problem.
Sometimes it is a skin stress problem.
The barrier may be weakened.
The skin may be inflamed.
Breakouts may be leaving marks.
The routine may be too active.
The skin may be dehydrated.
Heat may be making the skin more reactive.
The treatment plan may not match the season.
That is why I do not treat every pigmentation concern by attacking the skin.
Sometimes we need to calm first.
Support first.
Hydrate first.
Protect first.
Then correct.
Because brightening and pigment control are not the same thing.
Brightening helps improve radiance.
Pigment control looks at why the skin keeps becoming uneven in the first place.
This is why June is still your protection phase.
We are not ignoring pigmentation.
We are building the foundation that pigment-prone skin needs before correction becomes more effective.
If your pigmentation gets worse every summer, do not just ask:
“What fades it?”
Ask:
“What is making my skin reactive enough to keep producing it?”
That is the difference between guessing and strategy.

Your skin is not creating pigmentation for no reason.
Pigment is part of the skin’s defence system.
Melanin is produced to help protect the skin. So when pigmentation becomes more noticeable in summer, we need to look at what the skin is responding to.
Because summer gives the skin more signals.
More light exposure.
More heat.
More sweat.
More inflammation.
More friction.
More product layering.
More picking.
More barrier stress.
More chances for the skin to feel irritated or overwhelmed.
And pigment-prone skin often responds faster.
This is why two clients can have completely different pigment responses in the same season.
One person may get a light tan and move on with their life, apparently blessed by the skin gods.
Another may see darker patches, stubborn marks, uneven tone or pigmentation returning in the same areas every year.
That is not random.
That is the skin’s pigment pathway becoming more active.
So this week in The Summer Skin Strategy, we are going deeper than “wear SPF”.
Week 1 was about building the protection layer.
This week is about understanding why some skins keep defending themselves with pigment.
When I look at pigmentation, I am thinking about:
Is the skin inflamed?
Is heat making it more reactive?
Are breakouts leaving marks?
Is the barrier compromised?
Is the skin dehydrated?
Are products too strong for the season?
Is there enough daily protection?
Are we calming the skin or constantly provoking it?
Because pigment care is not just about brightening.
It is about making the skin feel safer, calmer and better supported so it does not keep over-defending itself.
That is where professional treatment planning, SPF, antioxidant support, hydration, barrier care and careful product choice all work together.
If pigmentation gets worse for you every summer, your skin does not need panic.
It needs someone to understand the pattern.

Your SPF routine is either protecting your results… or quietly undoing them.
This week we have started The Summer Skin Strategy with SPF because protection is the foundation of everything we do in clinic.
If pigmentation gets worse for you every summer, we cannot only think about treatments once the marks become darker.
We have to look at what is happening every day.
Your SPF.
Your antioxidant support.
Your hydration.
Your cleansing.
Your barrier.
Your skin hygiene.
Your treatment choices.
Because pigmentation is not just a mark on the surface.
It is your skin responding to triggers such as UV exposure, heat, inflammation, visible light, oxidative stress, barrier damage and inconsistent protection.
This is why I do not just say “wear SPF” and leave you to guess the rest.
I want to know:
Is your SPF suitable for your skin?
Are you applying enough?
Are you using antioxidant support underneath?
Is your skin dehydrated or inflamed?
Are you cleansing properly at night?
Is your barrier strong enough to tolerate your routine?
Are your treatments actually suitable for summer?
Because the wrong routine can make skin more reactive, more congested and more pigment-prone.
And the right routine can help protect your glow, your collagen, your barrier and your treatment results.
This is exactly why June is your protection phase.
Your Summer Skin Strategy appointment is designed to look at your skin properly and build the right plan around it:
SPF protection
Pigment prevention
Antioxidant layering
Hydration support
Barrier care
Summer-safe treatment choices
Homecare guidance that actually makes sense
So if pigmentation, dullness, congestion, sensitivity or dehydration usually gets worse for you in summer, this is not the time to wait and see.
It is the time to get ahead of it.
Because summer skin does not need panic in August.
It needs protection now.

Does SPF break you out, or is your routine around SPF the problem?
This is something I hear every summer.
“I know I should wear SPF, but it makes me greasy.”
“It clogs my skin.”
“It breaks me out.”
“It feels too heavy.”
And sometimes, yes, the SPF texture may not be right for your skin.
But very often, SPF is not the only issue.
In summer, your skin is dealing with:
Heat
Sweat
Oil
Makeup
SPF layers
Touching your face
Environmental build-up
Poor cleansing
Barrier stress
So if you are applying SPF every morning but not removing it properly at night, or your barrier is already stressed, your skin can start to feel congested, irritated, dull or reactive.
And if pigmentation is your concern, skipping SPF is not the answer.
SPF is essential.
But it needs to be chosen correctly, layered properly and removed well.
This is why I look at the whole routine:
Is your SPF the right texture for your skin?
Are you wearing enough?
Are you cleansing properly at night?
Is your skin dehydrated underneath?
Is your barrier compromised?
Are you using antioxidant support?
Are you over-exfoliating?
Do you need better skin hygiene support?
This is where products such as ISOCLEAN spray and ISOCLEAN disposable towels can be useful for certain clients, especially if the skin is sweaty, irritated, breakout-prone, post-treatment or easily inflamed.
But the key message is this:
Do not stop wearing SPF because your skin feels congested.
Find out why your skin is reacting and build the routine properly around it.
Because if pigmentation gets worse for you every summer, SPF is non-negotiable.
It just needs to work with your skin.
June is your protection phase:
SPF. Pigment prevention. Antioxidants. Hydration. Barrier support. Smarter skincare choices.

Your pigmentation is not getting worse because your skin is “bad”.
It is getting worse because your skin is being triggered.
And in summer, those triggers increase.
Most people think pigmentation is only about “being in the sun”, but it is more complex than that.
UVB is usually what people associate with burning, redness and tanning. It can trigger melanin production as the skin tries to protect itself.
UVA penetrates more deeply into the skin and is often underestimated. It is present all year, can pass through windows, and contributes to premature ageing, collagen breakdown, inflammation and uneven pigment behaviour.
So when someone says, “I don’t burn,” that does not mean their skin is not being affected.
Pigmentation can still become more active through:
UVA exposure
UVB exposure
Heat
Visible light
Inflammation
Barrier damage
Oxidative stress
Picking or post-breakout marks
Inconsistent SPF
This is why I do not treat pigment-prone summer skin with one random brightening product and hope for the best. The skin deserves better. Astonishing concept.
For pigment-prone skin, your morning routine needs structure:
Antioxidant support to help support the skin against oxidative stress.
Hydration and barrier support where needed, because inflamed or dehydrated skin is harder to manage.
The correct SPF to protect against daily UV exposure and preserve your treatment results.
This is where products such as CLINICARE Glow, SVR antioxidant support, Purlés vitamin C options, Altruist Face Fluid SPF50, CLINICARE Dermo Corrective SPF50, and Cebelia UV Bright or UV Repair may be selected depending on your skin.
Because not every skin needs the same product.
And not every pigmentation concern needs the same plan.
If pigmentation gets worse for you every summer, June is the month to build your protection strategy.
SPF is essential.
Antioxidants are support.
Hydration protects function.
Barrier support reduces reactivity.
The right treatment plan keeps the skin calm, protected and resilient.
This is The Summer Skin Strategy.

If your pigmentation gets worse every summer, this is your warning.
Do not wait until it is darker and harder to correct.
Pigmentation is often triggered before it becomes obvious, through UV exposure, heat, inflammation, visible light, barrier damage, hormonal changes and inconsistent SPF.
That is why June starts with protection.
For pigment-prone skin, SPF is essential, but it should be part of a wider strategy.
A strong morning routine may include:
Antioxidant support
Hydration
Barrier support
The correct SPF
Consistent daily use
