Three stylists. Three different things.
Something clients ask us constantly: which one of you should I book?
Honest answer β any of us will give you great hair. That's the baseline, not the selling point. But everyone here has a thing they love doing more than anything else, and you'll always get someone's best work when you've booked them for the thing they're most into.
Laurence is the bob man. It's his favourite cut to do, and you can tell. The line sits exactly where it should, it grows out properly, and he'll spend as long as it takes getting the weight right. If you want a bob, a lob, or anything where the shape has to be precise β that's him.
Lauren does lived-in colour. Balayage that's meant to grow out beautifully rather than needing rescuing in six weeks. Soft regrowth, no harsh line, and colour that still looks deliberate three months later. If you want low-maintenance blonde or a warm brunette with dimension, book Lauren.
Cam takes his time. Which is either exactly what you want or mildly inconvenient, depending on your morning. Proper consultation, no clock-watching, and a lot of questions about what you actually do with your hair at home before any scissors come out. Book him if you want to talk it through. Don't book him if you're double-parked.
Not sure? Book whoever's free and tell us what you're after β we'll point you in the right direction when you get here.

I've been cutting this little legend's hair since day one. Today he returned the favour β¨
Genuinely one of the sweetest things about doing this job for as long as I have β watching your youngest clients grow up in your chair, and occasionally letting them have a go π€
Thank you to his mum for letting me share this one.

Greasy by tomorrow? It's the washing.
This is the one that surprises people, because the instinct is exactly backwards.
Your scalp produces sebum continuously. It's not a fault β it's what keeps hair and skin from drying out. When you strip it all off with a harsh shampoo, your scalp registers the loss and produces more to replace it. Do that every day and you've trained it into a cycle: wash, strip, overproduce, look greasy, wash again.
Which is why the people who wash most often are usually the ones complaining about oily hair.
Breaking the cycle isn't complicated, but it does need patience. Add a day. Wash every other day for a fortnight, then push to every third. Focus the shampoo on the scalp rather than dragging it through the lengths β the ends don't get greasy, they get dry, and washing them repeatedly is what causes that.
Here's the trick most people get wrong. Dry shampoo is something most of us reach for on day three, when the hair already looks greasy β by then you're covering a problem rather than preventing one. Use it the other way round. A light mist of our Authentic Beauty Concept dry shampoo through the roots straight after washing and drying, while the hair is completely clean, sits there and absorbs the oil as it's produced. You get an extra day, sometimes two, and you never hit the greasy stage at all.
Be warned: stretching the gap gets worse before it gets better. Two or three weeks of your scalp still producing at the old rate while you wash less. That's where most people give up. Push through and it settles.
If your scalp's genuinely sore, flaky or itchy rather than just oily, that's a different thing and worth getting looked at.
Friday afternoon at Swanky's, and Laurence is still going βοΈ
Genuinely one of the hardest-working, most consistent stylists in the city β every appointment, from the first cut Monday morning to the last one Friday night, gets the same focus π€
That work ethic is quietly rare. And we're lucky to have it in the salon.
The consultation before the reverse balayage π€
This is the bit most colour appointments skip β and it's the bit that decides whether the finished result actually works.
Lauren walking her client through the plan. What's changing. Why the tones she's chosen work with her natural. Where the depth will sit. How it'll grow out β¨
A proper colour consultation isn't a chat before the real work. It is the real work. Everything after this conversation is just ex*****on.
If you've been let down by colour elsewhere, this is what to look for in a new colourist π€

Three things we do for our stylists here.
We fill the diary. The marketing, the online booking, the social, the brand people in this city already know β that's our job, not yours. You're not starting from zero and hoping people find you.
We cover the costs. Towels, back bar, cleaning and products, depending on the tier you're on. We run three, and what's included changes with each β the Elite tier covers the lot. Worth a proper conversation rather than a guess, because the right one depends on where you're at.
We build your column around what you want to do. Tell us what you want more of β a particular kind of colour, a particular kind of cut β and we aim the marketing at it. You shouldn't have to spend years taking whatever walks through the door before you get to do the work you actually enjoy.
And we'll go through your numbers with you properly. Being self-employed behind a chair means running a small business, and nobody teaches you that bit.
Always happy to talk, whether you're looking or just curious.
It's never just hair π€
Sometimes it's the moment someone feels like themselves again. Sometimes it's the moment the weight of a hard year comes off in the mirror. Sometimes it's just a really good day.
Lauren gets it. Every time. And moments like this one are the whole reason we do what we do π€
Thank you to this beautiful client for trusting Lauren with the moment β and for letting us share a little of it here β¨

Going darker isn't one step. Not if you want it to last.
Most people assume brown is the simple one β and it's the assumption that causes half the disappointment we see after a box dye or a rushed appointment.
Brown isn't one colour. Underneath every strand there's warm pigment β reds and oranges β and brown sits on top of it. That warmth is what gives brunette its depth. It's why a good brunette looks rich rather than flat.
Now, if you've spent the summer getting lighter, that warmth has been lifted out. The hair is effectively empty underneath. Put a brown straight over it and two things happen: it looks flat and dull immediately, and then it fades out fast β often to a murky, ashy, slightly green cast that's nobody's idea of chocolate brown.
The fix is filling. Before the target shade goes anywhere near the hair, we put the warmth back β replacing the pigment that lifting took out, so the brown has something to sit on. It's an extra step, it takes longer, and it's the difference between colour that holds for months and colour that's gone in three washes.
If you're thinking about going darker this winter, that's the question worth asking whoever's doing it: are you filling first?
