𝗖𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲....

We all love a blue lagoon paradise: a pool with a tailored temperature and a sun floating above it 🌞 but I'm here to warn you of its dark side 💀

- The chlorine content within swimming pools can break down the amino acids and slowly eat away at the cuticles thus weakening the hair and causing it to look dry and frizzy.

- It removes natural melanin (which provides the hair with its colour/pigment) therefore creating the famous "pool green hair".

- Lipids can be removed by excessive exposure to chlorine. Lipids are needed to coat the hair shaft, providing moisture, shine and manageability. The result is dull, dry and damaged looking hair.

- The scalp and skin also suffer from excessive exposure by being stripped of natural oils and protective bacteria.

Notice how the word 'excessive' has been used. This means you will be fine on your holiday for a week or two. However, I would advise those of you who have coloured hair to use an argan oil/coconut oil prior to your swim to protect the hair or even better a swimming cap if necessary 😉

Often, it's hard to know what you actually want to do with your hair. So I thought I would put together 3 very simple steps to prepare for a consultation with your stylist ⬆️

Consultations are one of the most important part of a professional service where both the stylist and the guest come to an understanding (are on the same page) about what the desired outcome will be 🙂

Other than using Pinterest (my favourite) and Instagram. You can use Google, take a picture of an image in a magazine on your smart phone or off a billboard. Ask someone in the street you see with hair you like what they asked for/ask to take a picture. It's not weird it's paying them a huge compliment!

Personally, I have loved using rollers a lot more recently to work with the shapes and textures I have been putting in my guests hair.

Consultation is and always will be one of the most important part of a professionals service. Here I make sure I am on the same page and my guest understands as much as they can before committing.

I us the term 'Bangs' as the length between a fringe and face shape, sitting anywhere below eyebrows and cheekbones/jaw line. Although not as requested as last year, still a beautiful way to compliment a person's face shape.

The countries I have visited so far 🙂 traveling is first and foremost my deepest passion.

To see somewhere new and feel inferior to a superior surrounding, especially that in rural nature, is comforting. This may be subjective to me of course because we all see and feel things differently.

To me it's a reminder that our lives are unpredictable. It is about the journey and not the destination. Continue to seek new experiences and learn.
