Sports massage is good for the general relief of stress and tension and for fatigue, whether this is occupational, recreational or sporting.
A regular sports massage can help prevent injury by improving the condition of the muscles. The therapist will identify muscle tightness, trigger points and scar tissue which if left untreated may lead to injury. Sports massage therapists require a thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body, in order to provide an effective treatment. Therapies for Sport and Active lifestyles

Interesting read
A first-of-its-kind study by Queen Mary University and King's College London is investigating whether the menstrual cycle affects ADHD symptoms and medication effectiveness in women (about time, right?)
50 women with ADHD, all on medication, are tracking their menstrual cycles alongside daily symptoms (anxiety, depression, impulsivity) via electronic diary, to identify any correlating patterns.
We know that when estrogen drops before menstruation, this impacts dopamine levels, intensifying ADHD symptoms and increasing impulsive or risky behaviours (e.g., overeating, overspending, skipping contraception). The study participants described feeling "disabled" by symptoms at certain points in their cycle, but that taking part in the study helped some feel less alone and less self-critical.
Women are interested in the effect the menopause and peri-menopause - major hormonal transitions - have on their ADHD, questions for which Dr Agnew-Blais says her study - which is not fully completed yet - would be a good "starting point". It's not about a "need to change who you are," she noted. "It can help just fit ADHD into your life a little bit better."
Layla, one of the participants, says she has always given herself a hard time for not "coming up to scratch" but that taking part in the research project has felt "validating and freeing".
"Understanding that this is something that a lot of women are going through every month for most of their life. It's good to have kind of community and feel like that it's okay, this isn't just me."

๐ HOCKEY MISSES OUT AGAINโฆ
Arnold Clark has launched its Gear Up for Sport campaign, offering free training equipment to youth sports teams across England, Scotland and Wales.
It sounds fantasticโand it is.
The scheme supports 23 different sports and activities, including football, cricket, rugby, netball, pickleball, hiking, dance groups and ice hockey.
But field hockey isnโt eligible.
A sport played by thousands of young people across Great Britain. A sport in which clubs regularly struggle to afford sticks, balls, bibs, goalkeeper equipment and suitable facilities.
Once again, hockey appears to have simply been overlooked.
This isnโt about criticising the sports that have been included. Every young person deserves support and access to equipment.
But why should a junior football, rugby or ice hockey team be eligible while a junior field hockey team is not?
Arnold Clark provides a contact address for eligibility questions:
๐ง [email protected]
Perhaps the hockey community should politely ask whether field hockey can be added.
Tag your club. Share the post. Letโs make sure hockey is no longer the sport everyone forgets.
Get youth sports kits with Gear Up For Sport at Arnold Clark Weโre giving away sports kits this month to youth sports teams aged 4 โ 15. Know a grassroots sports team that deserves new kit? Apply now!
