Sensitive skin is more common than you might think. 🌿

Eczema, dermatitis and sensitive skin can affect people of all ages, and for many people, everyday products can be a source of irritation.

Around 1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by eczema, around 8% of UK adults live with eczema, and one UK study found that 51.4% of women and 38.2% of men described their skin as sensitive.

It's important to remember that sensitive skin, eczema and dermatitis aren't all the same thing. But they can all be reasons to think a little more carefully about what we put on our skin.

That doesn't mean that natural automatically means better, or that a handmade soap can treat a skin condition. It means understanding ingredients, knowing your own skin and making informed choices. 🤍

That's something I care about at Dock & Aloe — being transparent about what's in my soaps and why I've chosen each ingredient.

I’m so proud to share that Dock & Aloe was part of its first ever wedding — all the way over in beautiful Nerja, Spain! 🇪🇸💍

Each soap was lovingly handcrafted by me in Liverpool before making the journey abroad to become a special wedding favour. There’s something really lovely about knowing that a little piece of Liverpool travelled all the way to Spain to be part of such an important day.

Natural soap makes a beautiful wedding favour because it’s not just something pretty to take home — it’s something useful, thoughtful and made with care. My soaps are handcrafted using natural oils and butters, leaving skin feeling clean, nourished and cared for, while offering guests a little reminder of the day long after the celebrations are over. 🧼🌿

From my little Liverpool workshop to a wedding in Nerja — I couldn’t be happier that Dock & Aloe got to play a tiny part in their special day.

🌊 SOAP SPOTLIGHT: CROSBY BEACH 🌊

Over the next few nights, I’ll be shining a spotlight on some of my favourite soaps from the Dock & Aloe collection — and tonight, it’s all about Crosby Beach.

I made Crosby Beach because there’s something about a long evening walk along the beach that just clears your head. 🌊 The fresh sea air, the sound of the waves and that feeling of slowing down for a while are some of my favourite things.

I wanted to capture that feeling in a bar of soap — fresh, refreshing and uplifting, like a little reset at the end of a long day.

🧼 What makes it special?

🥥 Organic cold-pressed coconut oil helps create a rich, creamy lather while gently cleansing the skin.

🫒 Olive oil is naturally rich in fatty acids and helps produce a mild, conditioning bar that leaves skin feeling soft.

🌻 Sunflower oil is light and conditioning, helping to support the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

🤎 Shea butter adds richness and conditioning, helping leave the skin feeling smooth and nourished.

✨ Castor oil helps create that lovely creamy, luxurious lather and contributes to the conditioning feel of the soap.

🤍 Kaolin clay gives the bar its silky texture and provides a gentle cleansing quality.

🧂 Himalayan salt helps give the bar a wonderfully firm texture and contributes to a clean, fresh-feeling wash.

💧 Naturally produced glycerine is created during the traditional soap-making process. It’s a natural humectant that attracts moisture to the skin, helping it feel comfortable and soft after washing.

🌿 Essential oils complete the experience, bringing a fresh, natural aroma to the bar and making it particularly refreshing after a busy day.

Crosby Beach is all about that feeling of fresh air, open space and clearing your mind — captured in a bar of soap. 🌊
