Nuumam Thai Massage Therapy

💠A week full of mixed emotions… 💗

This week has been a real reminder of how different everyone’s journey can be, and how much can happen in between our appointments.

🔹I had one of my regular clients , Rhodri in to get himself ready for the Chicago Marathon. I’ve since seen his Instagram post to say he’s arrived safely and he is ready to smash it on Sunday!

Wishing you the very best of luck — enjoy every moment, trust your training, and go smash it!🏅

🔹Then, I had a lovely lady who usually comes to me for massage and waxing, especially before her holidays. We always have a good chat about our holiday plans, but this time, she came in to get her waxing done before an operation instead. She told me she won’t be seeing me for massages for a while as she needs time to recover. Wishing you all the very best with your operation and a smooth, speedy recovery. Take all the time you need to heal. 💛

🔹And in between these moments, I’m seeing clients managing injuries, coming for lymphatic drainage after surgery, living with lymphoedema, and dealing with their own personal challenges.

It really is a reminder that behind every appointment, there’s a person, a story, and a different journey. Sometimes we’re preparing for exciting adventures, sometimes we’re working towards recovery, and sometimes we just need a little time and care for ourselves.

Every week brings something different, and although I’m here to help with your treatments, it means so much to be a small part of your journeys too.

Whether you’re preparing for a big event, recovering from surgery, managing an ongoing condition, dealing with an injury, or simply needing a little time to yourself…

💠Please know that I’m always here for you. 💙

💠Could your stretch marks be connected to your discomfort?

As a massage therapist, I’ve had clients come in with mid or lower back pain, thinking it was simply muscle tension.

But sometimes, I notice prominent stretch marks around the same area.

Stretch marks happen when the skin stretches or changes quickly — during pregnancy, growth, weight changes, muscle growth, or hormonal changes. They’re very common and usually harmless.

I’ve suggested to some clients that they keep the area moisturised after showering, and some have come back and told me their discomfort improved.

Does that mean stretch marks cause back pain? Not necessarily. There can be many reasons for pain, and sometimes we need to look beyond the muscles.

Listen to your body. Don’t always assume pain is just muscle tension.

And remember — moisturising can help keep skin comfortable, but creams and oils aren’t proven to completely remove stretch marks.

💠Thank you so much, Jonathan, for this amazing review! It was an absolute pleasure having you in for your Thai foot massage and Indian head massage combo.

Jonathan experienced our signature treatment approach firsthand :

🔹Traditional Thai Foot Massage: We start by using traditional wooden sticks and tools to target pressure points, followed by a soothing warm oil massage to melt the tension away.

🔹 Nourishing Indian Head Massage: Using warm coconut oil to deeply benefit your hair, followed by a gentle, calming scalp massage that leaves you completely refreshed.

We are so glad you felt all the tension disappear and could have stayed all day! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. 🙏💙

💠Sometimes, lymphatic drainage massage alone isn’t enough.

For people who have had lymph nodes removed or affected by cancer treatment, lymphatic fluid may not be able to move through the body in the usual way. This can contribute to swelling, heaviness and lymphoedema.

That’s why it’s important to see a therapist who has specific training in working with people affected by cancer and lymphatic changes.

As a therapist qualified in specialist cancer massage, I’ve trained in more than general lymphatic drainage. This includes understanding how the lymphatic system has been affected, how to work safely around areas where lymph nodes have been removed, and how to identify appropriate pathways to help encourage fluid movement.

It’s not simply about “draining” the fluid. Knowing where and how to direct lymphatic fluid safely is an important part of specialist treatment.

If you’ve had lymph nodes removed and are experiencing swelling or changes in the affected area, make sure you choose a therapist with the appropriate specialist training and experience.

🔹Your body has been through a lot. It deserves care from someone who understands what it needs. 🤍

💠A little reminder for my lovely clients

🔹When I’m working with a client, I don’t answer the phone. Your appointment time is dedicated to you, so please don’t worry if your call goes unanswered.

If you need to get in touch, simply leave me a voicemail or send me a text, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m free.

Just a gentle reminder that I work strictly by appointment only and unfortunately I’m unable to accommodate walk-ins. Please don’t turn up at my door if you haven’t been able to reach me by phone — I may simply be busy with a client.

🔹You can check my availability and book your appointment online at any time, without needing to wait for a reply.

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding and continued support. 🙏💙

💠MASSAGE IS NOT A LUXURY — IT’S WELLNESS.

Your body works hard every day. Give it the care it deserves.

Regular massage can help you relax, release tension, support mobility and circulation, reduce everyday stress, and simply feel better.

You don’t have to wait until you’re in pain or completely exhausted.

One massage a month = one hour dedicated to YOU.

Make self-care part of your routine, not something you only do when you need it.

Your body will thank you. 💚
