A “nose job” can mean more than changing how the nose looks.
In this video, Mr Annakan Navaratnam explains the difference between rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty, and why nasal function and breathing are just as important as appearance.
For some patients, a twisted nose, deviated septum, or structural weakness can affect airflow. In these cases, surgery can be planned to improve breathing while also refining the shape of the nose.
At Battersea Hospital, every rhinoplasty journey starts with a detailed assessment so we can consider both form and function, and create a treatment plan tailored to the individual.
If you’re considering rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty for appearance, breathing, or both, book a consultation with our specialist team.
Feeling looked after matters just as much as the treatment itself.
In this lovely patient review, they share how clear communication from the doctor, a smooth experience, and quick support from our admin team made the whole journey feel reassuring from start to finish.
At Battersea Hospital, we want every patient to feel informed, supported, and in safe hands at every stage.
Thank you for trusting our team with your care. 🤍

Yesterday, we welcomed a group of optometrists to Battersea Hospital for a hands on ophthalmology CPD event hosted by Mr Robbie Walker.
We started the evening in a relaxed way with some food, drinks and a bit of time for everyone to chat and get to know each other before the sessions began.
From there, Mr Robbie Walker took the group on a walkthrough of Battersea Hospital, showing them our consultation rooms, eye testing rooms and operating theatres. It gave everyone a chance to see the full ophthalmology environment and understand more about the patient journey from consultation through to treatment.
The highlight of the event was definitely the practical cataract surgery session.
It was a great way to bring the learning to life. It gave the optometrists a much clearer understanding of what their patients will actually experience when they go through surgery. It was easily one of the most enjoyable parts of the day, and the room had a real sense of curiosity and enthusiasm throughout.
We were also joined by Darshna Bharadwa from Johnson & Johnson, who gave a presentation on the premium lens options currently available and shared more about how different intraocular lenses can support different visual needs.
Later in the session, Mr Robbie took the group through a series of eye conditions and OCT scans. This led to some really useful discussion around what could be seen on the scans, how different conditions present and how those findings can shape the patient pathway.
What made the event work so well was the mix of learning, discussion and hands on experience. It gave everyone the chance to ask questions, share perspectives and see more of what goes on behind the scenes in ophthalmology at Battersea Hospital.
We really enjoyed having you all with us and look forward to welcoming more optometrists and eye care professionals to Battersea Hospital for future CPD and educational events.

If you’re very short-sighted, you’ll know how much glasses or contact lenses can become part of everyday life.
In this video, Ms Sancy Low talks about when myopia starts to have a bigger impact on day to day living, and the different vision correction options that may be available.
For some people, laser eye surgery may be suitable. For others with a higher prescription, options such as implantable collamer lenses (ICL) may be worth exploring.
At Battersea Hospital, we always start with a proper eye assessment and a conversation about your lifestyle, prescription, and what you’d like to achieve.
If you’re tired of relying on glasses or contact lenses, book a consultation with Ms Sancy Low and our ophthalmology team to find out what might be right for you.

Breathing more comfortably. Feeling more confident. A result planned around both function and appearance.
This patient came to us with significant nasal blockage caused by a deviated septum, alongside concerns about the shape and alignment of her nose.
Following an external septorhinoplasty performed by Mr Annakan Navaratnam, Consultant ENT Surgeon, the aim was to improve nasal airflow while also creating a straighter, more balanced profile.
For her, the surgery was about more than appearance, it was about feeling more comfortable and breathing more freely day to day.
Thank you to our patient for allowing us to share her journey and photographs.
Considering septorhinoplasty? Book a consultation with our ENT team to discuss your concerns and suitable options.
