Natural soap = natural ingredients. I use clays to give different colours and textures to my soap bars. They then work like a sponge on the skin, soaking up excess dirt and oils. Aren't we lucky to have such beautiful and gentle cleansers beneath our feet!

I'm often left with slices of soap in different shapes and sizes when I'm cutting soap bars and because I HATE waste, I found a way to repurpose them. Spotlight on Activated Charcoal 🔦
Activated charcoal has lots of small holes in its surface, increasing its surface area and making it more porous. It’s this sponge-like property that allows activated charcoal to soak up a variety of chemicals and it’s why you see it used in filtration products like water filters.
Activated charcoal also has a long history of use in emergency medicine for the treatment of drug overdose or accidental poisoning. It binds with certain drugs or poisons, reducing their absorption in the gut. Sadly it doesn't bind well with alcohol, so not a magic hangover cure.
But this absorption super power makes it really useful in skincare products for oily skin. It draws out and works like a magical sponge on impurities. My Charcoal face bar also has a high concentration of Olive Oil and Avocado Oil which help to nourish and replenish the skin after use.
If you have combination or dry skin like me, I’d recommend working the Charcoal face bar into your skincare routine just once a week or when you feel like you need a deeper cleanse.
