Two months post upper and lower blepharoplasty with a temporal brow lift: these are actually still early results. In the next 4-6 weeks the scars will have vanished and so will the redness from that stye.

Patients with constitutionally heavy or full eyelids like this one present a particular surgical challenge. The tissues are more resistant to lifting, symmetry is harder to maintain, and there is a real risk of either under- or over-correcting. Aggressive surgery changes a person’s appearance in ways that can be difficult to reverse.
The op involves not only removing tissue but sculpting and suspending.
The focus always being in identity preservation just can’t be overstated. If it can’t look natural then don’t do it.
At two months, the result is still settling. I will post updated images as the recovery continues.

After surgery there’s the initial ‘downtime’ (limited activity, careful healing) and then this middle phase, where life has largely resumed and things are looking good with make-up, but surgery still shows.
Clinicians should show this stage more. Before the final result. So patients can plan better around their treatment.
This is five weeks post-op. I thought it worth showing, even before we get to the end result we’re both so excited about.

Before any upper blepharoplasty, the surgeon needs to think about brow position, the brow fat span, the lid fold, eyelid show and the overall eye aperture. All of these influence each other. Removing skin is the straightforward part. Working out how these proportions interact in a specific face is where the time goes.

Revisional lower lid surgery is amongst the most demanding work in oculoplastic surgery.
This patient presented after blepharoplasty had left her with significant lower lid retraction.
The physical discomfort aside, the psychological toll of living with a result like this is real and often underestimated.
Reconstruction involved a hard palate graft, midface lift, and canthoplasty. She also had upper lid ptosis which, though not obvious in these photographs, was corrected at the same time.

Early overcorrection is part of the process, something patients need to understand and be prepared for before committing to this kind of surgery. The final result takes months to fully declare itself.
When things go wrong after eyelid surgery, revision requires a very specific skillset and approach. Thank you for placing your trust in me.

Upper blepharoplasty | 3 months post-op

This patient came to us with concerns of upper eyelid heaviness. She was also noted to have swelling around the eyes which we felt warranted investigations before proceeding.
All tests and imaging were reassuring, and having observed her status for some time, we went ahead with surgery.
Now, at three months, some residual swelling remains, which is entirely expected given her history. I managed this proactively with a short course of oral steroids during early healing, and she is doing well.
We are both delighted with her so far progress and will post final results in a while which I expect to be fantastic.

A couple of points highlighted:
1. Careful pre-operative workup is not a delay, it is part of the surgery.
2. Not every aesthetic presentation is straightforward, and that is precisely why assessment matters.
