Your first nail course should never be your last one.

And I think more beginners need to hear this.

Your first course is not there to teach you everything there is to know about nails. That would be impossible.

It should teach you the things that matter most at the beginning:
how to perform a treatment safely,
how to reduce the risk of allergies,
how to recognise correct structure and a clean line of light,
how to move and control your brush,
how much product to use,
how to prep correctly,
and how to understand what you are actually doing instead of just copying steps.

Then comes practice.
Then comes repetition.
Then comes more education.

I’ve completed over 70 courses in 6 years.

When I started, I was practising 10–12 hours a day, 7 days a week, and Russian manicure was part of my work from the very beginning.

Did I know everything after my first course? Absolutely not.

Every new training gave me another piece of the puzzle. Every few months I could understand things that I simply wasn’t ready to understand before, because my hands and my eyes had developed.

Today, your progress can absolutely be faster.

You have access to better education, better products, better tools and educators who can save you years of trial and error.

But there is still no shortcut around experience.

Great nail artists are not created after one course.
They are created through education, repetition, mistakes, correction and thousands of hours of practice.

Your certificate means you are qualified to begin learning properly.

It does not mean you have finished learning.

Walk before you run.
Master the basics before chasing advanced techniques.

And stay humble enough to always believe there is more to learn 🕊️🤍

When I first started painting with colour, I genuinely thought… it’s just some paint and a brush. How difficult can it be?

Then I painted my first full set of hands and thought:

WHAT A BLOODY SORCERY IS THIS? 😂

Nothing wanted to sit evenly.
Colour flooded the sides.
Getting anywhere near the cuticle without touching it felt impossible.

And no one had ever explained to me the tiny things that actually make the biggest difference.

How to place the brush.
How much pressure to use.
What angle to hold it at.
How much product should actually be on the brush.
How to move the colour without dragging it.

Then I realised something else.

That beautiful line of light we obsess over when building the nail? It still needs to look smooth after colour application.

For me, Russian manicure has never been paint all five fingers, cure, slap another coat on and done.

It’s artistry.

It’s understanding your tools and your product. It’s controlling every movement. It’s taking pride in details so tiny that most people probably wouldn’t even notice them.

But matters because I will notice them.

I want to be able to zoom right into my work and the only thing bothering me is a random fluff or dry spot because London tap water is hard and I forgot to lightly dab some cream on it. 😂

This week has been the most emotional week of my career.

Not because something huge happened in one moment, but because everything seemed to test me at once.

I flew back from Madeira early, leaving my husband and my parents there, because I had something important to show up for. I had to pass my exams and prove that I was ready to become a Kinetics. Modern nail brand Educator.

And for two days, we were pushed.

5 minutes to prepare a speech and stand up in front of everyone.

1 hour 45 minutes to complete a full set of nails, manicure, gel and gel polish. If you know me, you know how much pressure that alone put on me. I care deeply about every detail of my work and I never want speed to become an excuse for lowering my standard.

Then came the written exam.

But what stayed with me most wasn’t even the exams.

It was seeing how human we all are.

How quickly confidence disappears when you’re put on the spot. How nervous you can feel even when you know your craft. How much we all care. How much pressure we quietly carry behind the version of ourselves people see online.

There were moments this week when I felt proud, moments when I felt completely overwhelmed, and moments when I genuinely had to remind myself why I do all of this.

Leaving my family behind for work is never something I take lightly.

But my career has always meant more to me than just nails.

It’s my students. My growth. My standards. My future. The person I’m trying to become.

Business has a way of showing you every weakness you have.

And then it asks you one question.

Are you going to let this break you, or are you going to become stronger because of it?

This week hurt in places I didn’t expect.

But I showed up.

And I’m leaving it officially a Kinetics Educator. 🤍

“Why didn’t you correct the toenail growing sideways?” 🫪

Because toes are not hands, and a toenail should never be forced into a prettier shape just for the photo.

I’m not going to cut away a healthy part of the nail simply because it grows slightly to the side, then rebuild the missing area with hard product to make it look straight.

Toenails sit inside shoes, take pressure with every step and need to flex naturally. Adding rigid material or creating an artificial corner can put even more pressure on the nail instead of fixing the reason it grows that way.

A straighter-looking toenail is not always a healthier toenail.

My job is to clean, refine and enhance what is naturally there without compromising the nail for the sake of perfect symmetry.

Healthy and functional will always come before “Instagram perfect.”

Imperfect to instagram is sometimes perfect to nature and most importantly safe and healthy 🤍

6 years ago, I started doing nails for £30.

But very early on, I made one decision:

If I’m going to run a business, it WILL be profitable.

Not at the expense of quality.
Because quality comes first.

But my time, skill and business are not a charity.

I didn’t want to work more to earn more.
I wanted to become BETTER so my work became worth more.

And most importantly, I wanted to build a career I could still love years later. Not one that exhausted my body, killed my passion and required 10-hour days of manual labour just to survive.

I’ll die on this hill:

£40 for a 2+ hour Russian manicure should be a thing of the past.

No skilled artist should spend hours creating meticulous work and walk away with £40 before expenses and tax.

But higher prices have to come with higher standards.

That’s what I’m here to push into the UK and international nail industry.

Raise the skill.
Raise the quality.
Raise the standard.
Then raise the damn price 💰

“I’ll increase my prices first, so I can have more time to do detailed work.”

I hear this a lot, but I think we’re getting the order wrong.

You don’t increase the price and then promise that the quality will follow 🤍

You increase the quality, the attention to detail, the experience, your knowledge and the consistency of your work. And when the value of what you provide grows, your price has a reason to grow with it.

Because money should be the by-product of doing something exceptionally well.

A client needs to FEEL why your service costs more.

They need to look at their nails and notice the difference. They need to experience your level of care, your knowledge, your attention to detail and the standard you consistently deliver.

You can tell someone, “I’ve increased my prices because now I’ll have more time to do better work.”

But from the client’s perspective, why should they pay upfront for the promise that one day the service will become better?

Give them the reason first.

I think this is something we sometimes forget as business owners because we become so focused on what WE want to earn.

We calculate our dream income, increase our prices and start thinking about how many clients we need to hit that number.

But those clients are the people actually making that income possible.

They don’t owe our businesses money simply because we decided we want to earn more.

Our job is to create a service they genuinely believe is worth paying more for.

Improve first.
Become undeniable.
Let your pricing catch up with your standard.

Because sustainable higher prices aren’t built on what we want to earn.

They’re built on what people are happy to pay to experience again.

Applying hard gel in a way that supports the nail but it’s still thin and aesthetic and doesn’t require almost any filing is my kind of a sport 😍
