International Self Care Month is underway and runs until 24 July β¨οΈ
International Self Care Month is a time to promote and encourage self care around the world.
It's a month to remind us to take care of ourselves, physically, mentally and spiritually.
There are many ways to practice self care, and it's important to find what works best for you. It can be anything from taking a relaxing bath to taking a stroll outdoors.
So take some time for yourself today, and every day, and give yourself the care and attention you deserve. It's important to find what works best for you and to make time for it regularly.
Remember, also to share with someone who you care about ππ€

"Running in 34 weather is no joke but the sense of achievement is fantastic. Today, I have a new level of respect for my Kenyan and Ethiopian long distance runners . It was 4 years ago when I visited Canada on a business trip and got caught up in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Since then I've become more and more enthusiastic about running, biomechanics and outdoor fitness.
I use running and other outdoor fitness activities to challenge my functional ability and to simply let my mind deload and roam. Sometimes you just need to get some fresh air outside of the box, right?"

MEDAL MONDAY π
I am so grateful to God that I made it through my first marathon unscathed and full of joy regarding what took place on the day and the 4 months prior.
didn't go the way I had expected, but my experience was fantastic, and I would not change that for the world. Crowd support was amazing... nobody cheers louder and throws in banter like London! Strategic pit stops with my family and friends were so lovely, a blessing, and offered a tremendous boost, particularly when things got tough.
I entered the race with an injury that flared around a month before the big day, so as I approached the Start, I was a little mindful about what the day would look like. I remember joking with a few friends that I would be happy crossing the finish line any time before the next day π. Whatever happened along the way, I would complete what I set out to do and not give up. I had my self pride, my family's hopes that I'd be the first in the clan to complete the race and of course the immense support of friends and family who had donated to my 3 chosen charities in advance.
The first 10 miles were surprisingly easy with me hovering on the shoulder of the 5 hr pacemaker, although those downhill stretches started to remind me that I wasn't quite 100 yet. Somewhere behind Surrey Quays, my knee started to lock up as a protective response, and I was reduced to a slower runner then a hobbler then a walker with an occasional turbo boost. I considered that this would pass, and I would be pain-free by the time I reached Mile 20. Sadly, that would not be my fate, and I continued making strides along roads that a few months prior had been the backdrop to some of my most enjoyable Reels.
The last few miles were amazing. I'm thankful to the people who stayed around after the faster runners had finished, collected medals, and were heading back along Embankment with the tastiest smelling food ever.
EXTREMELY thankful to my family and friends who turned out in the last mile and gave the biggest hugs leading to my final push to the finish line.
There's more to the story (continued in the comments)
