With a foundation of over 20 years of experience as a General Practitioner within the NHS, I transitioned into the field of aesthetic medicine, fuelled by a profound passion for combining art and science, with the aim of enhancing natural beauty.

I think we’re entering a new era of aesthetic medicine.

And being part of the Kate Goldie Experience as a trainer has completely changed the way I think about what we do.

For years, aesthetics has largely been defined by what we inject and where we inject it.

But the science of ageing is far more interesting than that.

We now understand ageing as a complex process occurring across multiple anatomical layers, from changes in bone and the deeper structural tissues, through the fat compartments and fascial layers, right up to the dermis and epidermis.

And increasingly, the conversation is shifting from simply replacing what has been lost to understanding how we can influence the tissue itself.

That means thinking about collagen remodelling, cellular signalling, tissue quality and structural support, and understanding where different technologies and treatments can realistically play a role.

It also means asking better questions.

What is actually ageing in this patient?
Which anatomical layer are we trying to influence?
What biological response are we trying to create?
And what does the evidence tell us is most likely to achieve it?

That might mean an injectable.

It might mean a biostimulatory approach.

It might mean an energy based technology.

It might mean combining modalities that act at different depths.

And sometimes, it means recognising that adding more volume simply isn’t the answer.

This is what I find so exciting about where aesthetic medicine is heading.

We’re moving beyond “What can I inject here?”

towards

“What is happening to this tissue, and how can I intelligently influence it?”

Being surrounded by clinicians at the Kate Goldie Experience who are questioning, debating and dissecting the science has pushed my own practice forward enormously.

For me, the future of aesthetics isn’t about doing more.

It’s about understanding more.

Anatomy. Biology. Technology. Evidence.

And bringing them together to treat every face with purpose.

Laser season is almost here, and the diary fills faster than most people imagine.

Here is the honest truth about skin. Creams work at the surface. Injectables restore volume and soften movement. Both have their place, and I use both every day. But there is a deeper layer of ageing that neither reaches, the gradual thinning of collagen, the loss of firmness, the texture and tone that slowly drift away from the face you remember. That is the layer UltraClear was built for.

UltraClear is a cold fractional laser. It resurfaces and renews the skin using a fraction of the heat of traditional CO2 resurfacing, which is precisely why it is different. Old school lasers relied on heat, and heat is what forced people into a fortnight of hiding. UltraClear works with far less collateral warmth, so the skin is asked to do the one thing it does beautifully when you let it, repair and rebuild from within. The result is genuine renewal at depth, smoother texture, refined pores, softened fine lines, a more even tone, with downtime that fits around real life rather than dictating it. How much downtime depends entirely on the depth we choose together, and that is a conversation, not a fixed rule.

So why now. Because skin renewal is a process, not a switch, and it rewards patience. Collagen rebuilds over weeks and months, quietly, in the background, while you get on with your life. Starting as the sun retreats through autumn and winter gives your skin the time and the conditions it needs to do that work properly, so you arrive at party season, and the new year beyond it, already glad you began. Leave it late and you are chasing a result rather than planning one.

This is also, quietly, the busiest time in any aesthetic diary. The patients who see the most from a course are the ones who start early, with time on their side and a plan that is theirs alone.

If this has been sitting at the back of your mind, let this be the nudge. Not a rushed decision, a considered one. Consultation first, always, where we map the right approach for your skin, your goals and your calendar.

Every nose tells a different story.

One of the things I love most about facial aesthetics is that there is no single definition of a “perfect” nose. Distinguishing features often give a face character, individuality and beauty, and I would never encourage someone to change them simply to follow trends.

For this patient, however, her nose had been a source of anxiety for many years. After a detailed consultation, we decided that a subtle non surgical rhinoplasty would help create better harmony with the rest of her facial profile while preserving a natural appearance.

By carefully placing small amounts of dermal filler, we were able to smooth the profile and improve overall facial balance without surgery, general anaesthetic or significant downtime.

The aim is never to create someone else’s nose. It is to create a result that feels right for them.

Every treatment is bespoke because every face, and every person’s goals, are unique.

Two generations, thirty years apart, asking the questions most people only ask in private.

I joined Anji and Annie on Too Young for This, Too Old for That to talk about Botox, fillers and what ageing well actually means. What struck me was how different the concerns were at 23 and at 53, and how much overlap there was underneath.

We covered the things I get asked every week in clinic. Why people start. When it stops being about looking better and starts being about looking like someone else. What good work looks like, and why the best result is the one nobody notices.

I have always believed the conversation matters more than the treatment. This was a good conversation.

There’s a patient I see more and more often.

They sit down, look in the mirror, and say the same thing. “There’s nothing really wrong. My skin just looks tired.”

Dull tone. Pores that seem bigger than they used to be. Pigmentation that make-up doesn’t quite cover anymore.

Not damage. Just skin that’s stopped working the way it once did.

For years, the honest answer meant a proper resurfacing laser and a week of hiding indoors. A sledgehammer to hang a picture.

3DMIRACL changed that.

It’s the gentlest mode of the UltraClear laser, working at a depth of around ten microns. A single human hair is seventy. This is precision measured in whispers.

It lifts away the dull surface cells that scatter light, while signalling the skin beneath to build fresh collagen and behave like younger, healthier tissue.

One to three days of mild redness. Then skin that looks brighter, smoother and more like yours again, with results that keep building for months.

I’ve written a full guide on my blog, covering who it suits, what it feels like, and where it fits in a longer-term plan for your skin.

Link in bio, or send me a DM with any questions.

Suitability is always confirmed at consultation. Results vary between individuals.

There is a question I get asked constantly. “Which single treatment will fix my skin?”

The honest answer is that the best results are almost never about one treatment. They are about understanding that skin ageing happens on several fronts at once, and treating it in the right order.

Polynucleotides to repair. Skin boosters like NCTF to nourish. Biostimulators like Radiesse where structure has been lost. Filler only where it is truly needed, and only after the foundation is right.

Optimise skin quality first, and you need far less of everything else. That is the whole philosophy behind the way I work.

Swipe through for how I think about layering, and why the sequence matters as much as the products.

The laser that changed my mind about lasers.

For years, resurfacing lasers came with a catch. Brilliant results, but only if you had lighter skin, could tolerate serious discomfort, and were willing to hide away for two weeks.

UltraClear rewrote those rules.

It is a cold fibre laser, which means it delivers energy with remarkable precision and far less heat spreading into the surrounding tissue. And that changes everything:

Safe for all skin tones.

Because there is minimal collateral heat, the risk of pigmentation issues drops dramatically. Fitzpatrick I to VI, this technology was built with every patient in mind.

Comfortable, often without numbing.

Most of my patients describe a warm, prickling sensation. Many are surprised we have finished.

Downtime measured in days, not weeks.

Lighter treatments can see you back at your desk within 48 hours. Even deeper resurfacing recovers much faster than traditional CO2, often 4-5 days.

What are we treating?

Acne scarring, sun damage, fine lines, uneven tone and texture, and the general dullness that creeps in when collagen slows down.

The result is skin that looks like yours, just clearer, brighter and better behaved. No filters, no tricks, just genuine skin quality.

If you have been told laser was not an option for your skin, it might be time for a second opinion.

Filler adds volume. That’s all it does. It doesn’t change the quality of the skin sitting above it, and if that skin is thinned, sun damaged or losing its collagen scaffold, volume underneath tends to draw attention to the problem rather than solve it. This is why some faces look filled rather than refreshed. The product isn’t wrong, the sequence is.

The approach I take works in a deliberate order. First, we address the skin itself. Fractional laser resurfacing creates a controlled stimulus for new collagen and elastin, improving texture, firmness and tone at a structural level. Then we work on the deeper matrix. Biostimulators such as Radiesse and JULÄINE activate your own fibroblasts to build collagen gradually over months, while polynucleotides and NCTF 135 support hydration and repair within the extracellular matrix, the environment your skin cells actually live in. Only once that foundation is rebuilt do we consider filler, and by that point most patients need far less of it, placed with far more precision.

I won’t pretend this is a quick fix, because it isn’t. Regeneration takes months, not minutes, and it asks for some patience. But it’s precisely because it works with your biology rather than sitting on top of it that the results hold up. Skin that has genuinely improved doesn’t need disguising. It just needs the right support in the right places.

Done well, this is the difference between looking done and looking like yourself on a very good day.

If you’d like to understand what this sequence would look like for your face, the link to book a consultation is in my bio.

Individual results vary. All treatments require consultation and medical assessment.

He said he’d stopped recognising himself on video calls and in the mirror.

Not the features. The tiredness. The heaviness that had settled around his eyes, through his midface, along the jowl. None of it matched the man who actually walked into the room.

So we went to work with UltraClear.

LaserCoring around the eyes, the midface and the jowl, precise micro columns that tighten and lift the skin exactly where it has lost its structure. Then the Ultra setting across the whole face to stimulate collagen, the scaffolding that holds everything up, and help reduce the appearance of historic acne scars.

Now look again. Same man. Same features. Nothing added and nothing changed. His skin has simply caught up with how he feels.

And it keeps going. Collagen remodels over time, month after month, so what you are seeing here still has up to six months of improvement ahead of it.

This is what natural looks like. Not a new face. A rested one.

Results vary from person to person and always follow a proper consultation.
