“When They Say Cut It Off… Or Watch It Fall Out.”
👆That was the message most people get after some weeks of starting their dreadlocks.
Their scalp starts itchy, their parts were messy,
even some of their friends will say to them, “It doesn’t look neat.”
Someone even whispered, “It’s not for you.”
And you almost gave up your locs due to lack of self confidence, what most people don't know, is that starter locs are not pretty at first ooooh, starter locs are not meant to look perfect, they are not meant to look neat every day and they are not meant to grow overnight.
Start locs frizz, shrink, and they can test your patience.
But what some people don’t know is that dreadlocks are not just hairstyles.
👉They are journey.
👉The early stage is the most sensitive stage.
👉Too much manipulation can damage them.
👉Too much product can cause build-up.
👉Too little care can cause dryness and breakage.
👉Starter locs need gentle hands.
👉Clean scalp.
👉Light oils.
👉Patience.
👉Wash when necessary, not every day.
👉Moisturise lightly, not heavily.
👉Retwist or Interlock carefully not too tight.
Your roots must breathe. Because when you rush the process, you stress the roots.
And stressed roots don’t grow strong locs.

👉Keep your scalp clean.
👉Say 'NO' to heavy creams.
👉And please ✋️stop comparing your locs to people whose locs were 3 years ahead.
When all that is done👆👍you will notice that months have passed, the frizz has settled, your locs have formed, and your confidence has grown.
And people will start asking you.
Who did your hair?
Where did you make your hair?
What are you applying to?
But they don’t know the tears, the doubts, the lonely mirror moments.
🤣🤣🤣Starter locs will humble you.
👉Starter locs teach you that growth is never perfect in the beginning.
👉Starter locs teach you that everything beautiful takes time.
👉Starter locs teach you discipline.
And here is the honest truth👇
If you can not manage your starter locs with patience, you may struggle to manage your life with patience.
Because just like locs, life locks in slowly.
It forms through consistency.
It strengthens through care.

👉Don’t cut off what is still growing.
👉Not your hair.
👉Not your dreams.
👉Not yourself.
👉Trust the process.
