XERF vs Morpheus8: what’s the difference? 🤔
At Ambra Aesthetic Clinic in North Finchley, North London, these are two of the treatments we get asked about the most, and they work in completely different ways.
Morpheus8 uses fine needles combined with radiofrequency. It’s brilliant for improving skin texture, acne scarring, firmness and overall rejuvenation. You’ll need a few sessions, and there’s around two to three days of downtime.
XERF, on the other hand, uses no needles at all. It works with two radiofrequencies to warm the deeper layers of the skin, giving a firmer, more lifted look with very little downtime.
So how do you choose? If texture or acne scarring is your main concern, Morpheus8 is likely your answer. If you want firmer, lifted skin without needles or discomfort, XERF could be the better option. And if keeping volume in your face matters to you, that’s factored into your treatment plan too.
Every plan starts with a consultation, where we look at your skin, your face and your goals, so we can recommend the right treatment (or combination) for you.

Why Allison chose polynucleotides over filler under her eyes
Allison is 52 and has dealt with water retention for years, which meant filler under the eyes was never the right option for her. Looking in the mirror, what she noticed most was dark circles and a bit of puffiness, rather than lost volume.
As she’s got older, Allison says her approach to her skin has changed too. Rather than reaching for anything drastic, she prefers facials and hydration-focused treatments, which is what led her to polynucleotides at Ambra Aesthetic Clinic.
Polynucleotides work differently to filler. Instead of adding volume, they help repair and hydrate the skin from within, improving texture and tone over time. Allison says the improvement usually takes a couple of weeks to show, but once it does, it’s dramatic. The skin under her eyes looks visibly more hydrated, and people around her have noticed the difference and started asking what she’s been doing.
Allison has been a client at Ambra Aesthetic Clinic for many years, and says her skin has never looked better. If you’ve been put off filler for similar reasons, polynucleotides might be the gentler alternative worth discussing at your next consultation.

Can XERF cause fat loss?
It’s one of the most common questions we get asked about XERF, so here’s what the research actually says.
A study published this year followed 16 women after a single XERF session. Using 3D scanning and skin analysis, their faces were measured straight after treatment, then again at one month and three months.
The results were reassuring. There was no loss of facial fat. Overall facial volume stayed exactly the same, it simply shifted in a lifting direction. Eyebrows lifted, eyelids sat higher, and wrinkles, pores and skin evenness all improved. Every single one of the 16 women said they would do it again.
It’s still a small, early study, but the early signs are good news for anyone worried that a radiofrequency treatment like XERF might thin out the face rather than lift it.
If keeping your facial volume matters to you, the key is having a treatment plan that’s actually built around that goal, not just a one off session.
At Ambra Aesthetic Clinic, we’re one of the first clinics in London to have the XERF machine. If you’d like to find out whether it’s right for you, book a consultation with our team.

Do you have acne-prone skin and struggle with breakouts? Aerolase is worth knowing about.
It’s safe across all skin types and works by reducing inflammation and active acne without the downtime that comes with harsher treatments. If scarring is your main concern, a course of Aerolase followed by a different modality such as CO2 laser tackles both active acne and scarring together, a strong package for anyone dealing with both issues at once.
One of our clients put it simply: Aerolase was the treatment that changed things the most for her. She could see a difference every session, and comparing her own photos over time, the improvement was clear each round.
If you’re not sure what to do with acne-prone skin, come and see us at Ambra Aesthetic Clinic.

How do you know if Sculptra is right for you?
Sculptra is a biostimulator that works gradually over months, not an overnight filler, so at Ambra Aesthetic Clinic we always start with a proper consultation before any treatment takes place.
During your consultation with Dr Maryam, we go through your full medical history, talk through what you want to achieve, and make sure your expectations match what Sculptra can realistically deliver. Only once that’s covered do we move on to the treatment itself.
Sculptra works gradually. After injection, it typically takes a few weeks to start working as it stimulates your own collagen production, and the full results build over several months. That’s why we usually recommend a course of treatment over a few months rather than a single session, to get the best, most natural-looking results.
If you’ve been considering Sculptra and want to know whether it’s the right fit for you, book a consultation with us at Ambra Aesthetic Clinic, North Finchley, North London (N12 9RN).
XERF, what makes it so different?
Have you noticed your jawline looking a little softer, or your skin feeling less firm? At Ambra Aesthetic Clinic we use XERF, a radiofrequency treatment that works without surgery or downtime.
What makes XERF different is that it delivers two frequencies in the same pulse, reaching the skin at different depths. This heats the deeper tissue layers that support the skin, encouraging collagen to contract and triggering a gradual collagen building response over time. At the same time, built in cooling protects the surface of the skin throughout treatment.
You may notice some early tightening within the first few sessions, with results continuing to build over the following months as new collagen forms.
If you're noticing early jowls, a softening jawline or a general loss of facial firmness, XERF could be worth discussing. Book a consultation with our team at Ambra Aesthetic Clinic, North Finchley, North London (N12 9RN) to find out if it's the right fit for you.
Before and straight after XERF ✨
These photos were taken on the same day, before and after our patient's first XERF session here at Ambra Aesthetic Clinic in North Finchley, North London.
You can already see firmer skin and a more defined jawline. And this is only the start. XERF keeps working beneath the surface for weeks afterwards as your skin builds new collagen, so the result continues to improve over the following months.
XERF is the Korean skin-tightening treatment everyone's been asking about. It uses two radiofrequency frequencies to gently warm the skin and the deeper layers that support it, all in one session:
- No needles
- No numbing cream
- Back to your day straight afterwards, with just a little redness for a few hours
It's ideal if you've started to notice your jawline softening, your skin losing firmness, or looser skin around the neck.
Every treatment at Ambra starts with a consultation with Dr Maryam McMillan, so your plan is built around your skin and your goals.

"It was almost instant, you could see it was making a difference straight away." That's Caroline's verdict on Sculptra, and it's a different side of the story to most.
Turning 60, Caroline's concern wasn't about changing the shape of her face, it was gravity, and the loose, less elastic skin that comes with it. She wanted her skin glowing and firmer without altering her natural look, so she went down the route of Sculptra treatment.
Even with just one session, it helped the laxity enormously, enough that she's now booked in for a full course. In her own words, people keep telling her she looks well, even after a long day, and she puts that down entirely to the treatment.
For Caroline, it comes down to trust as much as results. She describes feeling properly understood through the process, sympathetic, approachable care rather than a one-size-fits-all approach to her skin.
