As part of Work of the Hand at Daylesford Farm this weekend, we were delighted to welcome talented makers and graduates of The King’s Foundation.
Through their dedication to craftsmanship, these emerging artisans are helping to carry centuries-old techniques into the future. From intricate details to the thoughtful use of materials, each creation tells a story of patience, skill and the enduring beauty of things made by hand.

This weekend at Daylesford Farm, Work of the Hand brought together a community of artisans, craftspeople and visitors for a two day event. From traditional techniques passed down through generations, to contemporary interpretations of age-old skills, each maker shared a unique story of creativity, patience and dedication to their craft.

The cable and moss stitch running through our Merino Cable Sweater are drawn from the fisherman’s knit, a tradition where every stitch once carried its own meaning.
Moss stitch stood for abundance, the diamond for success, and cable and rope, twisting over one another like rope on a boat, for good fortune at sea.

Notice the colours of autumn. Allow your movement or gaze to be guided by the shades, textures and details around you.
Find a tree and sit beneath it for a while. Rather than looking for anything in particular, simply wait to see how you connect with the tree.
If you’re near water, watch the reflections and ripples. Stay with them for a little longer than you normally would; the longer you look, the more you see.
Tune into the birdsong, wind brushing through leaves, footsteps on soil, and let the noise of people nearby fade into the distance.
Follow the light, let it draw you onwards. Notice what catches your eye - dappled sunlight, a bright patch on the ground, the way the light and shadow transform the landscape.
And before moving on, reflect on what has stirred a sense of fascination, awe or wonder, before you go about the rest of your day.
