HERITAGE STYLE. MODERN PERFORMANCE. FACTORY FINISHED.
Heritage-style glass doors need the right balance of traditional appearance, modern glazing performance and a clean, consistent finish.
Crystal Units can manufacture insulated glass units with aluminium fenestration glazing bars factory-applied before the glass reaches site, with precision lock plate cut-outs and other specialist processing completed as part of the manufacture.
For window manufacturers and glazing installers, that means:
• Less time fitting glazing bars on site
• Reduced installation labour
• Precision lock plate cut-outs ready for door hardware
• More consistent bar positioning and alignment
• Cleaner, controlled factory finishing
• Fewer components and processes to manage on site
• Reduced risk of remedial work and call-backs
• Modern high-performance glazing with a traditional heritage appearance
With the glazing bars and specialist glass processing completed before delivery, your team can focus on installing the finished unit rather than carrying out additional fabrication on site.
Crystal Units can also help specify the right glass build-up, coatings and performance requirements for the application, helping ensure the complete unit is designed correctly before manufacture.
Save time on site. Reduce labour. Get the details right before installation.

NO FRAMES. NO VISIBLE FIXINGS. JUST GLASS.
For structural glazing, the silicone bond is part of the engineering, not just the finish.
Crystal Units can complete structural silicone bonding in controlled factory conditions, helping glazing installers and façade contractors achieve:
• Consistent structural bond lines
• Cleaner frameless finishes
• Reduced site-applied bonding
• Faster, more controlled installation
• Technical support before manufacture
• Dow Quality Bond certified capability
For qualifying projects completed under the Dow Quality Bond programme, extended 10-year warranty and application coverage may also be available, subject to Dow’s project requirements and conditions. This can include certain direct costs associated with a covered adhesive or cohesive failure.
You’re not just ordering glass. You’re working with a UK technical glazing partner focused on getting the specification, manufacture and structural bonding right before the unit reaches site.
Designed correctly. Bonded correctly. Manufactured correctly the first time.

Solar Control Glass. Proven on Iconic UK Projects
Balfron Tower is an iconic Grade II-listed Brutalist building designed by Ernő Goldfinger in the 1960s.
Its refurbishment presented a complex glazing challenge: improve thermal performance, airtightness and occupant comfort while respecting the original fenestration patterns, slim sightlines and architectural character of the building.
The solution included high-performance double-glazed IGUs incorporating solar control glass, helping to reduce unwanted solar gain while improving insulation and supporting the building’s long-term energy performance.
It’s exactly the type of project where getting the glass specification right matters.
WHY CRYSTAL UNITS?
For glazing installers, window manufacturers and façade contractors, we offer more than glass manufacturing.
✓ Technical support before manufacture
✓ Solar control and coated glass expertise
✓ Advice on U-values, g-values and thermal performance
✓ Glass thickness and loading calculations
✓ Complex and bespoke IGU manufacturing
✓ Support for heritage and specialist glazing
✓ UK manufacturing
✓ Over 30 years of glazing expertise
From heritage refurbishments like Balfron Tower to modern commercial façades, we help make sure the glazing is designed correctly before it reaches production.
The right glass. The right specification. Manufactured correctly the first time.

SOLAR CONTROL GLASS. CONTROL THE HEAT, NOT THE LIGHT. ☀️
When you’re specifying glazing for façades, curtain walling, rooflights or large glazed areas, managing solar gain is critical.
Solar control glass is engineered to control how solar energy is transmitted, reflected and absorbed, reducing unwanted heat gain and glare while maintaining high levels of natural daylight.
Depending on the specification, specialist solar control and Low-E coatings can help manage infrared and UV radiation while allowing visible light to pass through. Within an IGU, the coating position and overall glass make-up are selected to achieve the required performance.
For glazing installers and façade contractors, getting that specification right matters.
At Crystal Units, our technical team can help you select the right glass and coating combination for the application, considering factors including:
• Solar gain and g-value
• Light transmission
• U-value and thermal performance
• Glare reduction
• Glass thickness and loading requirements
• IGU configuration
• Solar control coatings
• Ceramic border requirements on coated glass
The result is glazing designed around the performance requirements of the project, not simply manufactured to an order.
