3 skincare myths I believed for YEARS as a doctor 😅 #3 shocked even me. Which one did you believe?

PHA 5% Exfoliating Lip Serum uses gluconolactone (a PHA) + a light AHA blend to gently exfoliate lips, backed by glycerin and ectoin for hydration. Genuinely solid formulation.

But it’s pH 3.5–4, and the brand’s own instructions flag increased sun sensitivity. So basically, SPF lip balm the next day isn’t optional. Skip that step (especially with deeper skin tones) and you’re risking post inflammatory hyperpigmentation instead of smoother lips.

💬 Anyone else already using this — SPF or no SPF?

“Just use glycolic acid” is the most common bad advice I see for dark underarms and on skin of colour it can backfire, triggering more post inflammatory pigmentation instead of fading it.

Underarms aren’t sun damaged skin, they’re a friction zone dealing with shaving, deodorant irritation, and occlusion. Treating it like facial hyperpigmentation misses the actual cause.

Keep on watching to see what I reach for instead: azelaic acid, niacinamide, tranexamic acid; all of which fade pigment without adding irritation. Plus the one deodorant swap that fixes this before you even need actives.

One of these three has the best vitamin C formula I’ve tested in this series… and I still wouldn’t fully trust the bottle. 👀
