Seasonal Shedding: What’s Happening to Our Hair in September?

Noticing more hair in your brush lately or more coming out when you shampoo? You’re not alone. Many of us experience extra shedding in September. The exact reason is still unclear, but it might be due to changes in daylight and temperature or simply the natural hair growth cycle. 🌞🍃

Don’t worry—seasonal shedding is usually temporary, and your hair will reset soon. If it continues for a longer period, it might be worth checking in with a professional, as there could be other factors at play. We’re always here to chat if you have any concerns.

Hair Colour & Topical Minoxidil: What You Need to Know.

Hairdressers have reported seeing highlighted roots sometimes looking slightly brassy or even almost neon, and root tints appearing much warmer and giving off “hot roots.” To avoid this:

1) Timing is Key: Avoid using minoxidil 24 hours before and after colouring your hair. It can impact how the colour takes, possibly affecting the tone.

2) Prep Your Hair: Even if it’s been 24 hours since your last minoxidil application, make sure to wash your hair before colouring. If you can’t wait the full 24 hours, apply minoxidil at least 4 hours before and wash your hair afterward to remove any residue before your colour service.

3) Post-Colour Care: After coloring, your scalp might be more sensitive, so it’s best to wait 24 hours before using minoxidil again.

By following these steps, your hair colour will look its best, and your scalp will stay healthy.
