The idea that the UV is lower in winter, so you don't have to wear sunscreen, is debatable. If you don't care about premature ageing, collagen loss, and hyperpigmentation darkening, then in somewhere like the UK, maybe sunscreen isn't as necessary. I have seen some dermatologists argue that recently.

However, if you do care about all of those things and you'd rather take a preventative approach than spend thousands on laser or undoing skincare issues later, wearing sunscreen daily is the easiest way to prevent all of that.
