I don't share much about my personal life so this post is very personal and very raw.

I am a mum. I am a mum to 2 wonderful little boys. Last year, every parents worst nightmare happened. I was told my child had a lifelong condition to which there is no cure.

Last summer, my oldest son started drinking A LOT of water...it was hot, didn't seem unusual. He started wetting the bed A LOT, well he was drinking loads it had to come out. He was absolutely ravenous, nothing would fill him....strange but he's a growing 7 year old....He started to lose weight...NOT normal! What happened next became a blur, from a quick GP visit to being rushed to paediatric A&E to an 8 day stay on the children's ward.

My son has Type 1 diabetes. The guilt, the fear, the overwhelming sadness which followed in the days, weeks, months is something I have never experienced before. Every day I have to actively keep my child alive with a hormone which given just even half a unit too much could kill him.

November is Diabetes awareness month. November 14th is world Diabetes day. In honour of all those warriors fighting T1, T1.5, T2, PCOS, gestational diabetes we paint our nails blue for .
