The passion, the important conversations, the ideas shared and, most importantly, the connections that were made.

The Founding B.O.B Event brought together incredible people from across our industry, all with one thing in common: a genuine desire to make a difference and help shape what comes next.

A huge thank you to each and every person who attended, contributed, listened, shared and connected.

This was only the beginning.

Yesterday, 73 people walked into a room as employers, educators, brands and industry leaders , and walked out as founding members of something bigger than any one of them.

The B.O.B Founding Event wasn’t built around presentations. It was built around roundtables, real conversations across the four things that actually shape this industry: Industry Collaboration, Talent & Recruitment, Education & Industry, and Career Development.

We’re not trying to build another organisation. We’re trying to connect what already exists — the training, the talent, the opportunities — because right now, too much of it happens in isolation. Yesterday was the start of changing that.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and chose to be part of building this, rather than just watching it happen.

What does professionalism mean to you in the beauty industry?

Qualifying can make it feel as though you should immediately know exactly what comes next. Salon? Self-employed? Mobile? More training? Your own business?
You are allowed to explore before you decide. Your first step does not have to be your forever step. Choose the environment that will help you learn, build confidence and understand the industry better.

The feedback from our industry survey has helped reinforce what so many across beauty, spa, aesthetics and wellness are experiencing, and where greater support is needed.
That’s why B.O.B is bringing together industry leaders, educators, employers, brands and professionals at The Founding B.O.B Event. Not simply to talk about the challenges, but to work collaboratively on solutions that can genuinely support our industry and the people within it.

Confidence is one of the biggest challenges for many people starting their journey in the beauty industry. The truth is, confidence doesn’t come from waiting until you feel “ready.” It grows through experience, learning and simply showing up,even when you feel nervous. Every successful therapist started somewhere. They asked questions, made mistakes, practised their skills and continued to learn. If you’re at the beginning of your career, be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, and every step forward is helping you become the professional you want to be. Nobody builds a career completely alone. Behind most successful people in the beauty industry, there will have been someone who shared their experience, answered a question, gave honest feedback, made an introduction or simply encouraged them to keep going. And that support matters — particularly at the beginning of a career, when you’re still finding your confidence and figuring out where you fit. Your network doesn’t need to be huge. It just needs to be genuine. Stay connected with the people you train with. Learn from those already working in the industry. Ask questions. Attend events. Build relationships. And, as you progress, remember to offer that same support to someone coming up behind you. Because a stronger beauty industry isn’t built through competition alone. It’s built through connection.
