As the weather shifts from hot and humid to cool and crisp, the energy around us contracts - the main environmental threat during this season is Dryness.
To stay balanced, grounded, and clear-skinned, your autumn menu should focus on moistening the Lungs, supporting digestion, and adding gentle warmth.
1. Hydrate & Nourish the Lungs (Pears & Honey)
Dry throat, tickly cough, or tight skin? TCM considers white-colored foods specifically nourishing for the Lungs.
Pears: The ultimate autumn superfood. Poach them with honey and cinnamon to soothe the throat.
White Snow Fungus (Tremella): Packed with plant collagen to hydrate your body and skin from within.
Honey & Sesame: Add a drizzle to warm tea to gently lubricate dryness.
2. Warm Your Digestive Fire (Root Veggies & Soups)
As temperatures drop, cold and raw foods (like icy smoothies or raw salads) dampen your digestive energy. Swap them for warm, cooked, grounding meals.
Pumpkin, Sweet Potatoes, & Carrots: Naturally sweet, rich in Qi, and easy on the stomach.
Congees & Stews: Slow-cooked grains and bone broths help retain body heat and build core energy.
3. Add Gentle Pungent Spices
Pungent foods help distribute lung energy and ward off seasonal chills—just keep it mild, as excessive spice dries out the body.
Mild Warmers: Ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, garlic, and leeks.
Quick Tip: A warm cup of ginger-pear tea in the morning works wonders for seasonal immunity.
What to Avoid This Season
Iced drinks & raw salads: They weaken digestive fire when the body is trying to stay warm.
Excessively spicy/fried food: Extreme spices and deep-fried eats generate internal heat and worsen dryness.

What Happens to Your
Body During
Acupuncture ?
What Happens?
Acupuncture stimulates sensory nerves and creates signals that travel to the brain and spinal cord.
This can trigger the release of endorphins, which may help with pain and relaxation. It also promotes localised blood flow &
circulation.
Modulates the nervous system, helping to influence how the body processes pain and stress.
and then?
You may feel warmth, heaviness or a pleasant sense of calm moving through your body.
Your mind may begin to quieten, your breathing become slower & deeper, and feel so relaxed you fall asleep.
Afterwards, you may feel refreshed, energised, and more settled mentally as it supports the smooth flow & balance
of Qi throughout the body.
All things begin to reset.

What Do Cupping Marks Mean?
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Not all cupping marks are the same.
Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at the body as a whole, and cupping marks can offer one piece of the bigger picture.
Different colours may reflect different TCM patterns, including Qi stagnation, Blood stasis, Heat, or areas where circulation has been restricted. However, the colour of a cupping mark is never used on its own to diagnose a condition. Every treatment should be based on a comprehensive assessment by a qualified practitioner.
If you’ve ever wondered why your cupping marks look different each time, this post explains some of the traditional interpretations.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), excessive summer heat can combine with Heat Toxin, creating an internal imbalance that may leave you feeling unwell.
Common signs may include a sore throat, mouth ulcers, skin eruptions or acne, red and irritated eyes, excessive thirst, headaches, irritability, and fatigue.
TCM focuses on identifying and treating the underlying pattern of imbalance rather than simply managing symptoms. Acupuncture, together with personalised dietary and lifestyle advice, may help support your body’s natural ability to clear excess heat and restore balance.
During periods of hot weather, try to stay well hydrated, eat cooling foods such as cucumber, watermelon, celery, and leafy greens, avoid excessive exertion during the hottest part of the day, and prioritise rest and quality sleep.
If you’re experiencing the effects of summer heat, book a consultation to find out how Traditional Chinese Medicine can support your health and wellbeing.
