Hidden scar tissue can affect far more than the appearance of a scar.
After an injury or surgery, your body naturally produces collagen to heal damaged tissue. Sometimes this process creates adhesions (internal scar tissue) that may lead to stiffness, pain, restricted movement, and even increase the risk of future injuries.
The good news? Early treatment can help improve tissue mobility, encourage healthy healing, and reduce long-term discomfort.
At Perea, we use evidence-based treatments, including therapeutic ultrasound and specialised manual therapy, to help restore movement and support recovery.
✨ If you’ve been living with persistent tightness or pain after an injury or surgery, it may be time to have it assessed.
📍Book your consultation today and take the next step towards better movement.

Your scar starts healing long before you see the final result.
The nutrients you eat after surgery play an important role in collagen production, tissue repair and controlling inflammation. A balanced diet rich in protein, vitamins and healthy fats can support your body’s natural healing process.
Remember, nutrition is just one part of recovery. Following your surgeon’s advice, staying hydrated and receiving appropriate post-operative care all contribute to better healing outcomes.

Understanding the difference is important because lipoedema requires proper diagnosis and specialised management, not just advice to “lose weight.” Early recognition can improve quality of life and help people access the right care.

This isn’t our usual content, but it’s an important conversation.
At Perea, we focus on lymphatic health, lipoedema and recovery. However, true wellbeing means being aware of all aspects of your health and knowing when your body is telling you something isn’t right.
Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, and early detection can make a significant difference to treatment outcomes.
Take a moment to read through the signs and symptoms. If you experience any of them, don’t ignore them. Speak to your GP.
Please share this post. You never know who might need to see it.

Recovery after Lipoedema liposuction is a journey, not a race.
Swelling, firmness, numbness, fatigue, and emotional ups & downs are all common parts of the healing process. Every body heals differently, and recovery is rarely linear.
What can help support recovery:
✔️ Compression garments
✔️ Gentle movement
✔️ Hydration
✔️ Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
✔️ Rest and patience
Remember: final results can take 6+ months as swelling continues to settle. Trust the process and give your body the time it needs. 💚
If you experience signs of infection, severe pain, unusual swelling, or concerns with wound healing, contact your surgeon.

Thinking about flying after cosmetic surgery? ✈️
Your body needs time to heal and flying too soon can increase swelling, discomfort, fluid build-up, and delay recovery.
If you’re planning surgery abroad or traveling home after a procedure, give your body the recovery time it deserves.
✔️ Stay hydrated
✔️ Wear compression
✔️ Move gently during travel
✔️ Follow your surgeon’s advice

I’m deeply grateful to and the team at .heck_int in Germany for the opportunity to visit and observe their work in lipedema surgery.
As a post-surgery lymphatic drainage specialist, it was an invaluable experience to gain a deeper understanding of the surgical process and how it directly connects to the recovery and care of patients afterwards.
Seeing the level of precision, expertise, and dedication in the operating environment gives me even more insight into the journey my patients go through and how I can better support them in recovery.
Thank you for the warm welcome and for generously sharing your knowledge.
Lipoedema is more than “just weight gain.”
It’s a chronic condition that often begins with hormonal changes, affects mostly women, and can cause painful, symmetrical swelling that doesn’t respond to lifestyle changes alone.
Awareness leads to earlier support, diagnosis, and better care.
You deserve to be heard, understood, and informed.
💚 You’re not alone 💚
Lipoedema affects many women, yet it’s still underdiagnosed.
Common features:
✔ Symmetrical swelling
✔ Fat pads around knees
✔ Soft, supple skin
✔ No increased infection risk
If this sounds familiar, consider speaking to a healthcare professional.
