β€œAt the age of 10-12 months when a child begins to walk, the bones of the foot are only partially ossified, are in reality but an orderly arrangement of cartilaginous masses.” - Functional Disorders of the Foot by Frank D. Dickinson, MD 🦢🏽

The implications of this are that little feet are extremely malleable, and will adapt to whatever environment they are put in. We want our children to grow up with natural shaped feet, not shoe-shaped feet. Keep those little paws out of shoes as long as possible. 🐾

National Fertility Week - Sharon Marshall shares her IVF journey 11/11/2021

Just sharing this moving interview with ITV’s Sharon Marshall about her struggles with infertility, IVF and miscarriage and how she had suffered in silence for so many years. Her only regret was not talking about it sooner.

I know first hand both personally and professionally, that it is not uncommon for women and men to keep their struggle from colleagues, friends and even family. It can be physically, mentally and emotionally challenging and people can experience grief. It can also feel very lonely.

Sharon shares the relief she felt once whe opened up and she learned that she was not alone as many other people opened up to her about their own experience.

She also talks about how she approached it holistically and learned to give herself love. She didn’t like reflexology ss it tickled 🀣 which is never a complaint I’ve received.

In an update this week she shared how she had received so many messages from people thanking her for sharing her story.

How to walk in high heels... again! 22/09/2021

Are you struggling to get your high heels on since lockdown?πŸ‘

Apparently 66% of women have said their feet have spread during the last 18 months. This is because whilst working from home and not having weddings or events to attend, they have lived in flip flops, slippers, trainers or gone barefooted. Consequently they have not engaged a lot of the muscles in their feet, resulting in their arches dropping causing their feet to appear longer. πŸ‘£

Here are some great tips on how to exercise the feet. These are also great for anyone who suffers with plantar fasciitis, heel pain, calf pain or has painful bunions.

Sarah Harding: The Girls Aloud icon's life 07/09/2021

The sad news about Sarah Harding at the weekend is a reminder to pay attention to ourselves and our bodies and not to delay getting anything untoward checked out.

Davina McCall: S*x, Myths and the Menopause 13/05/2021

Well done Davina for making menopause a topic of conversation.πŸ‘

Despite it being something that every woman will go through, usually as a life stage, commonly between the ages of 45 and 55 years of age, although it can start earlier, and for others it may be medically induced, it remains a taboo subject.

For some women it can pass like a breeze but for others they may experience a range of symptoms that can be debilitating and, whilst this remains a taboo subject for many, a very lonely experience. It can be preceded by symptoms of peri-menopause which can last for up to a decade beforehand!

We need to discuss this more, not just amongst ourselves in the sisterhood but generally. Men, children, employers and many GPS need to be educated about how it can affect us so that they are better able to support us and offer us compassion.

The more we talk about it, the more that we can help and support each other at this stage of life rather than believe that it is something that 'we just have to get on with it'. We also have to remember to be kind to ourselves. πŸ₯°
