Double cleansing gets written off as a skincare myth, but for anyone wearing SPF or makeup, it really isn’t one!
SPF and makeup are made to cling to the skin and stay put all day, which is exactly what you want from them while you’re wearing them. The problem comes at night, because that same staying power means a single cleanse can’t break them down properly. They need a second pass to actually come off.
That’s all double cleansing is. The first cleanse lifts away the makeup, SPF, sweat and grime from the day. The second cleanses the skin underneath. Without it, all of that stays on the skin overnight, along with the bacteria and pollution it’s collected, and nothing applied on top can absorb the way it should.
The one exception is a day spent entirely indoors in just moisturiser, when a single evening cleanse is plenty.

Most people assume facial redness is just a skin type they're stuck with. It isn't, and it's a lot more treatable than you'd think.
Facial redness tends to worsen with age for reasons most people never get told. The skin thins, collagen drops, the small vessels near the surface lose their elasticity, and for women going through menopause, falling oestrogen makes it all harder to control.
Redness that felt manageable in your 30s can settle into something far more persistent a decade later.
The mistake we see most is either ignoring it or treating it the wrong way. Persistent redness has several possible causes, and rosacea in particular behaves differently and needs its own approach.
Get that wrong, and you can make it worse, which is why a proper assessment always comes before any treatment.
Here’s why redness worsens over time, how we treat it in clinic, and what you can do at home to keep it under control 👉🏼

How often should you really have a facial?
There’s a real assumption that there’s a magic number, a set schedule that works for everyone. But the truth is that the right frequency changes depending on what you’re working on, how consistent you are with your skincare at home, and crucially, what your skin actually needs at that moment.
Sometimes it’s right to be really progressive, treating regularly and pushing to get on top of a concern. Other times, particularly when skin is inflamed, or the barrier is compromised, the smartest thing to do is ease right off and focus on calming and repairing instead.
Reading which of those your skin needs, and when, is exactly where a good practitioner earns their place, adapting your plan as your skin changes rather than sticking rigidly to a set routine.
That’s really the point. A facial plan should flex with your skin, not the other way around.

Whatever you do to your skin in the next six months matters far more than anything you do the week before you want it to look good.
Six months is enough time to change your skin properly. Clearer, better hydrated, healthier in a way you can see and feel.
The catch is that it only happens if the right things are done in the right order from the start, rather than piled on all at once and hoped for. The patients who commit to that consistently are the ones who look noticeably better half a year on.
There's a real logic to how we'd approach it too. Get the basics working first, take the things driving your concerns seriously, then start the treatments that need time to build so the results are there when you want them, not just beginning.
Rush that order or skip the groundwork and you spend money without much to show for it.
Here's exactly what we'd do, and when, if we wanted our skin in its best shape six months from now 👉🏼

Most skincare ingredients suit some skin types and irritate others, but a rare few work beautifully for almost everyone.
So much of skincare comes down to matching ingredients to your specific skin type, which is exactly why blanket recommendations can be so tricky. What calms one person’s skin can easily aggravate another’s. But every so often an ingredient breaks that rule, working across almost every skin type, from sensitive and reactive to acne-prone and ageing.
1. First is hypochlorous acid, which sounds alarming but is anything but. It’s anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antifungal, brilliant for calming redness in conditions like rosacea and eczema, and a lovely one to keep on hand to spritz after the gym or onto anything that touches your face if you’re acne-prone.
2. Second is MSM, or methylsulfonylmethane. It’s a wonderful anti-inflammatory that benefits every skin type, supporting your skin’s collagen, calming inflammation and even improving how well your other products absorb.
3. And third, anything with an SPF. Protection is the one thing every single skin type needs, without exception, and it remains the most effective anti-ageing step there is.
The theme running through them is simple: calm, supported, well-protected skin is healthy skin, and these ingredients help deliver exactly that without the risk of irritation.

The most useful thing we can tell you isn't always what we can do for your skin. Sometimes it's what we can't do.
Honesty is the part of this work we take most seriously. Plenty of clinics will tell you what you want to hear and book you straight in.
We'd rather be clear about what a treatment will realistically achieve, where the limits sit, and what it takes to hold onto a result once you have it.
That kind of straight talking is what leads to the outcomes our patients trust us for, and the relationships that keep them coming back.
Here's our honest breakdown: what we can do for you, what we can't, and why knowing the difference is what gets you the best result 👉🏼

If your skin could choose its own treatment, what would it actually pick? Our practitioner Kat breaks it down concern by concern 💫
There’s a real skill in matching the right treatment to the right concern, and it’s exactly where a lot of people go wrong. They hear about a treatment, assume it’s the answer to everything, and end up disappointed when it doesn’t address what they actually needed. The truth is that different concerns call for completely different approaches, and knowing which is which is half the battle.
If you’re not sure which treatment is right for your skin, DM ‘SKIN’ and Kat will help point you in the right direction, or head to the link in our bio to book a consultation 💌

One treatment. That's all it took to clear this much sun damage and pigmentation ✨
This is Lumecca IPL, one of the most effective treatments we have for pigmentation, sun damage, age spots and uneven tone.
It works by targeting the excess pigment in the skin and breaking it down, without touching the surrounding skin, so the marks lift and the complexion looks clearer and more even.
The pigmentation across the cheek has lifted, the skin tone looks brighter and more even, and the whole complexion is fresher.
For a lot of our patients, this is the treatment that finally shifts pigmentation they've been trying to clear for years.

Get to know Kat, one of the wonderful practitioners here at Medicetics 🤍
Kat holds a Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Facials, and her passion for skin genuinely comes through in how she works. She loves the treatments that work with your skin rather than on it, the ones that trigger your own natural processes and build results that are truly yours.
But what she’ll tell you she loves most of all is the consultation itself, taking the time to understand your skin properly and sorting out your home routine so everything you do between appointments complements what happens in clinic.
That considered, unhurried approach is exactly what we’re about here. We’re never quick to prescribe, always keen to understand first, and that’s precisely why results are so much better for it.
If you’d like to book a consultation with Kat, give our front of house team a call, or head to the link in our bio to book online. She’d love to meet you 🤍

By your 40s, the treatments that used to work start to fall short, and that's usually a sign your skin needs support at a deeper level than creams can reach.
This is the decade when volume starts to shift, the jawline softens, and the overall quality of the skin changes in ways that are hard to pinpoint but easy to see in the mirror.
What most people don't realise is that these changes are happening below the surface, which is exactly why topical products stop making much of a difference.
The injectables we reach for most at this stage aren't there to add volume or freeze movement. They're there to restore what's been lost and support what's still there, so your skin looks like a fresher version of itself rather than a treated one.
We've broken down the three injectables we come back to most, and why each one earns its place 👉🏼
