I get asked often what is the youngest age I will carry out a gel polish or extensions service. My answer comes down to my insurance and manufacturers guidelines and they state that 16 is the minimum age. At this age I also require parental consent and a parent to be present for the appointment. I have also been asked if a disclaimer can be signed to allow someone younger to have nails, my answer is still no as if anything were to go wrong then my insurance will be invalidated.

This is purely to prevent any possible damage to young nails. A child's nails will not be fully formed and can be thin & very flexible, not only that but children's skin is more sensitive meaning an increase in the risk of allergies. An oilier nail bed can also mean the service won't last as long as it should.

If your youngster wants their nails doing then a manicure or file and polish with regular varnish is perfect or why not treat them to a set of salon quality, reusable, press on nails.
