Moving regularly keeps our joints and soft tissues more flexible and less painful. You donβt need to be a gym-goer just make some different day to day choices which gets you moving in different ways!
For example; Walking more! It is a great form of exercise, itβs accessible and free! πΆββοΈ

HELLO SPRING πΈπΌπΊ
As the weather turns warmer and the days turn longer, itβs a great time to take advantage of the extra day light by enjoying outdoor activities such as walks,runs, hikes, gardening, and recreational sports. Itβs important to stay safe while you're being active - especially if you've been hibernating for most of the winter!
Some friendly tips to stay safe this Spring:
πΈ Warm up properly: In general, an active warm-up is more beneficial than a passive stretch prior to activity. Research has shown dynamic stretching is more effective at improving performance than static stretching.
πΌ Mix it up: Do you focus only on one activity, like running? Cardio is great, but strength training is just as important for weight loss,maintaining bone density and building stronger muscles and joints. Thereβs a well-documented difference between strength, endurance, power and mobility, so try to incorporate each component into your exercise routine. Part of becoming strong and healthy is training your body to handle various loads, distances and stressors under variable conditions.
πΊ Increase the length/intensity of your workouts safely: The most effective way to avoid injuries is gradual, progressive exposure to an activity. Instead of jumping headfirst into a new routine, start more gradually over time to ensure your body can appropriately adapt to specific physical and environmental demands.

WEDNESDAY WORK WELLNESS π«
Still working from home? π‘ suffering with neck and shoulder tension? πββοΈ
A high % of patients I see report that they are suffering with some sort of neck and shoulder pain which has worsened since from working home for nearly 2 years! π
Have a look at my poster below showcasing some simple desk based stretches that can help relieve some of that discomfort π
It is really important that you break up prolonged periods of sitting with short burst of activity. This can be moving around the house, cleaning or going up and down the stairs every 30 minutes β°
Increasing your daily movement will also help with productivity and help reduce stress and anxiety π§
If that relief just isnβt enough for you then at RR movement I can assess your posture, provide soft tissue relief and a posture rehabilitation programme. Education is π so we can work together to help make sure you have the right set up for working from home π‘
