SELF EMPLOYED AND BUSINESS OWNER GIRLIES!!

For me, the hardest part of running my own business and being self employed is social media! Is it just me?

Is it because im a millennial? A generation where social media wasnt really a thing in our "youthful prime"?

Is it because I have imposter syndrome? Where I dont find any one else's posts cringe...but the thought of ME posting...I feel like everyone will laugh and judge?

Is it because I genuinely am so busy? Running a business, being a mummy to 2 kids...one being only 1 years old so super reliant on me, so much washing tidying and cleaning to do, the pressures to "bounce back" post kids and therefore squeezing exercise into my week, the advice to get as much sleep as you can each night with a baby who's not keen on sleep.

Its a combination of all the above.
Employed people get paid in their business hours for them posting social media content. For the self employed...if we dont have a paying client in front of us...we do NOT get paid. It is OF COURSE a case of "speculate to accumulate" with posting on social media. But with the algorithm always against us. Seeing friends like Kylie Jenners latest rich post but not even seeing yours to even be able.to interact. It feels pointless. Booking out a part of my working day to focus on it isnt an option...as im not paid to post and I have two lots of childcare to pay for. Then at the end of the day, after the chaos of dinner and bed time for the kids when theyre back, I am exhausted and just want to eat and sleep.

I love my job. Im confident and competent at what I do and specialise in. Im so proud of myself. But I wish I was better with my social media 😅😅

Do other self employed boss ladies have the same problem? Because it looks like you all nail it...except me haha # # #

Guys! Can't believe im quite saying this...but Loughborough Lashes is 10!!!!

Where has that time gone???

From a promo girl and events manager working all around the country for lots of different brands...to one day waking up and realising I wanted a change, and literally just going for it.
It was when eyelash extensions weren't really a big thing. People often ask "what made you get into it?". And the truth is I have no idea! I didnt know anyone who did it. I didnt even know anyone who got them done! I knew nothing about it and there wasnt as much information on it as there is now. I was sat on my break in a Mercedes Benz pop shop in Sheffield, and it just came to me.
I googled the best training with the most awards and best reputation, saved up, and booked a course with Nouveau.
I became the first home salon lash tech in Loughborough (only 1 salon in town offered individual extensions at the time). I won a global award for my classic sets in 2017, just a year later. Have helped mentor other lash techs. Had a purpose built salon extended onto our home. And had 2 babies in those 10 years.
Its been the most magical journey and ive loved every minute of it. I took a risk and a leap and it massively paid off.
Thank you to every single one of you who has ever visited me and entrusted me with your beautiful lashes.
I still have the buzz for it and love it. Im blessed to wake up knowing its a work day and feeling happy. Im lucky to open my daily diary and be happy and excited with every name I see coming in that day.
I have the best clients supporting me who have become wonderful friends. We laugh, cry, gossip, or sometimes just sit quietly whilst they catch up on well needed sleep.
A decade of doing what I love and im so grateful every single day.
