✨ What is Milia? ✨

Have you noticed tiny white bumps on your skin that feel hard and seem impossible to remove?

These are often milia — tiny, keratin-filled cysts that form just beneath the surface of the skin.

Keratin is a protein naturally found in our skin, hair and nails. Sometimes, instead of naturally shedding away, dead skin cells become trapped under the surface. The trapped keratin then hardens, creating a small, pearl-like white or yellow bump.

Milia are not spots, acne or blocked pores, which is why squeezing them usually doesn’t work (and can irritate or damage the skin).

They are most commonly found around the eyes, cheeks and forehead and can appear at any age.
