FINE LINE BEGINNERS 2 MONTH MENTORSHIP

Why I don’t suggest using fine line to cover up existing tattoos….

I get messages in my inbox weekly with tattoos that clients aren’t happy with asking if I can cover them.

This is just my opinion and neither correct or incorrect but for me covering up using fine line just doesn't work. We use such small needles and implant small amounts of ink into the skin. Fine line is designed to be light and dainty not bold and blocky so it’s not ideal for hiding things. This is even more the case if the original tattoo that you want covering has been done using a larger needle size. Even after a small amount of laser sessions to lighten covering up would be much more successfully done using more traditional style tattooing where shading and colouring can be used.

The same goes for adding to existing work that a client isn’t happy with. It’s hard to match needle sizes and make pieces look whole if they are done by different artists.

I always suggest removal if you’re not happy with an existing tattoo…..
Then start again and make it perfect ✨

Real skin practice is fundamental to learning to tattoo. Latex skin has its place for practicing techniques trailing needle sizes and inks and gaining muscle memory but nothing compares to the real deal.
