I am aware of some news reports in the media surrounding allergic reactions to poorly made gel polish. I would just like to address it incase anyone is worried…

The gel polishes being referred to are those not made in the uk, eu or America. Mostly anything made in china. As this was not regulated in the uk anyone could use these brands. As well as mma acrylic which is highly damaging to nails. These brands and types of acrylic are usually found to be used in what we call a non standard salon, ie nail shops where you just walk in on the high street. No testing or client cards filled out and poor hygiene practices. There are a lot of things that can cause reactions, the media has focused on one ingredient in gel polish HEMA. In the right percentage, hema is a safe ingredient but the gel polish brands that are being talked about have much higher percentages of harmful chemicals. HEMA in higher percentages can be damaging. it is worth noting that anyone can have a reaction to anything at anytime even if you’ve been using it for years. Bad application of products can also cause reactions and over filing the nail plate can also cause severe damage.

My stance on this subject. My acrylic system is all uk made and tested it is not MMA it is EMA which is exactly what should be being applied to your nails. I only use a gel polish brand made in the USA. All my products are as safe to use as possible.
