Meet my work wife, Maxine ✂️💖

Maxine has been in the hair industry for an incredible 40 years and has been part of Brown Sugar for 29 years — a true salon legend.

She trained with a barber, so she’s spot-on with men’s hair, but she’s also amazing at all aspects of hair. Experience, skill, and knowledge you just can’t teach.

She’s a mum of 3, a grandma of 3, and absolutely dotes on her dog Winston, who you’ll often see popping into the salon 🐾💙 She’s also obsessed with bright colours and loves spending time with friends and family.

I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her 💕

Hey, I’m Amanda 👋🏽
Owner & colour specialist behind Brown Sugar Hair ✂️

I’ve worked in this salon since I was 16 years old, and I’ve now proudly owned it for 22 years — which still feels a bit surreal. Hairdressing isn’t just my job, it’s been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember.

I’m a L’Oréal Colour Specialist salon, specialising in bespoke colour with a strong focus on hair health and results that last. I love creating colour that truly suits you and your lifestyle.

I like to think I’m friendly and approachable (even though my friends say I have resting bitch face 😂 — I promise I’m nice once you sit in my chair).

Outside the salon, I’m a mum to my 7-year-old son George, partner to Chris, a former horse owner who still misses them 🤍, someone who loves working hard at the gym — and of course, I love spending time with great friends.

This page is a mix of beautiful colour, salon life, and a little bit of me.

Winston is Maxine’s dog who stays with us in salon throughout the week , he’s a big softy and very friendly, he’s half wired hair vizsla and half Weimaraner and he’s 3 years old 🐕‍🦺

Cancellation & Deposit Policy 🤎

(New Clients & Large Appointments Only)

A non-refundable £50 deposit is required to secure bookings for new clients and large appointments. The deposit will be deducted from your total on the day.

Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule.
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice or no-shows will result in loss of deposit.
