The most common reason a first session gets moved is a holiday tan that has not faded yet.
It catches people out because it feels like a technicality. It is not. Laser locates hair by its pigment, and a tan loads the surface of your skin with extra pigment competing for the same energy, which is where the risk of burns and patchy tone comes from.
Fake tan behaves identically, so that counts too, and it has to be completely gone rather than nearly gone.
Which is exactly why the next few months are the right window. Four sun-free weeks before your first appointment is an ordeal to arrange in June. In September it arranges itself.
One more thing.
Waxing, plucking, threading and epilating all have to stop for those same four weeks, because each of them pulls the hair out at the root and the root is the thing the laser is aiming for. Arrive freshly waxed and there is nothing left to treat. Shaving keeps the root in place, which is the whole point of prep point one.

No cream has ever sharpened a jawline.
Two things are usually going on. The skin loses collagen and elasticity, so it stops holding its position along the jaw. Separately, fat shifts and settles into the jowl rather than staying put. Treating one while ignoring the other is why some people feel let down by the result they got elsewhere.
