Today my heart feels very heavy 💔

I went to see my old friend Clyde, who is now in a care home with vascular dementia. Seeing someone you love change in front of your eyes is one of the hardest things to face. He doesn’t recognise me now, and although I understand it’s the illness, it still breaks my heart. This has been one hell of a year for him surviving two major brain surgeries, but he always had the biggest smile when I walked into the hospital. Not today 😞

But what dementia can never take away are the wonderful memories we made, the laughs we shared, our Saturday shopping trips to Morrisons , the fish and chip dates, the lemon drizzle cake, and the friendship that meant so much to me.

Clyde will always be remembered by me as the person he truly is — kind, funny, full of character, and a very special friend.

Some people leave footprints on your heart, and Clyde has certainly left his on mine. 💔

Today we got the BEST News Ever 🎉🥳 I have been approved my mortgage and we have got the house that we wanted 🏠 finally buying my own house. No words can explain how happy I am. This is one of the happiest days for me ever. This last 18 months I have never been so determined & committed I’ve finally achieved my dream which has been so difficult as a single mum trying to get on the property ladder. They make it almost Impossible these days it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, but I can finally say I DID IT… Thank you to my sobriety; 5 years sober last month and most certainly would not have achieved this if I was still drinking. I am the happiest mum alive today 🎉🏠🥳🎉🥳🏠🥳🎉🥳🥳🎉🎉🥳🎉🎉
